I did not stay right till closing during my last stay - what happens at closing???

I understand from other posts there can be Fireworks, Mickey Says Goodnight(?). Castle's/Cinderalla Kiss Goodbye???

Help...since this time I want to stay until closing as I am staying at CR and will saunter back and avoid the crowds leaving

It will be on May 17th which has Fireworks scheduled

thanks
Jason

don't plan on sauntering anywhere :D it is a mad crush elbow to elbow to the door once outside the gate you can saunter - you may want to grab a snack at the bakery and sit out the rush as you don't need to get into the next crush at the bus stop. It is a long wait anyway to get out once the fireworks end. Have fun!

OK. so some of Main Street is open after "closing" then? At what time do the CM's after closing hustle you out of the park - figure I will go to Main Street get some goods and then go sit by Walt and Mickey and enjoy the view with DS and then head out

Am I missing anything?

Thanks
Jason

I am not sure of the MK, but we have stayed in Epcot an hour or more after "closing".

I know that at Mouse Gear, it is a good night when all customers are out by 11pm.
I don't think they kick anyone out unless it is obvious that s
omene is trying to see how long they can stick around.

at closeing they turn off all the lights right at closeing time, no warning to the guests, and then mickey and minnie walk around in their bathrobes before they go to bed.... hehehehehehehe.....:p

Yep, you should have about an hour to get out of MK. We always go to the Bakery on Main Street and have a coffee and a cupcake. This is one of the perks of staying on-site... no more rushing to get out and get transportation away from the Disney property! You can more or less be assured that you'll be able to get back to your hotel somehow if the CMs have let you stay in the park - Disney won't just abandon you.

Enjoy not worrying about the mad rush. Also good is to do E-ride night and just enter the park at the time it is closing for the regular guests - they all look like you're nuts because you seem to be the only one going the 'wrong' way up Main Street!

There is a "kiss goodnight" in front of the castle right about closing time (or maybe it's a few minutes before--I can't remember). I can't remember exactly how it goes because it's been a couple of years since I saw it, but I believe they read something that Walt said. I remember being very moved by it (but I guess I was moved enough to remember exactly what happened :D ) I don't think they do it every night (this is assuming they still do it), but I would ask a cast member (or two or three or twelve since they don't always seem to know). It was worth seeing.

I saw the "Kiss Goodnight" in February. MK closed at 9:00 with a second Spectromagic at 9:00, it was a Saturday night. The Kiss Goodnight was at 10:00. We just hung out in front of the castle, there was hardly anyone around except cm's cleaning up. You wouldn't believe how many people just leave the rented strollers, they were stacking them up at the hub. Anyway, the castle sparkles and an announcement comes on, I can't remember exactly what it said, about a minute long. Then we left, all of Main Street was closed except the Emporium. Right as we entered the Emporium they were locking up, there were a few people in there. It was a nice quiet to end the day.

We stayed after close in MK for the first time last year, and immediately declared it an E ticket ride! Beyond allowing you to miss "the crush," it's an awesome time to enjoy the lights, the music, and the scenery unimpeded. And if you're into pictures, this is the time to take all those shots you can't normally get. In particular, we enjoyed walking to the left of the castle (coming from behind, mind you) and looking at the partially illuminated Tomorrow Land. It's also a great time to observe the night crew springing into action.

Warning: Good luck trying to get food or a drink. They seem to be selling nothing at that time of night but collectibles. I found it funny that I could spend several hundred dollars for a pewter castle, but could find a coke!
