What happened to these boards?

Don't let my post count fool you. I used to have thousands but they got wiped out a few years ago when there was something going on on the disboards. For those who have been around a few years have you noticed how much less activity there is now? Here it is 9 pm est and there are threads on the first page of the theme park forum that were last answered 7 1/2 hours ago. On a SATURDAY !!! These boards used to be so much busier. Disboards are still the best imo . Just wondering where everyone is.

Empires rise and fall. Honestly I had not noticed the lack of activity.

I've been around here for almost 14 years off and on. These days I'm hanging out a bit more on this TPAS forum because we have APs and I'm trying to learn a few things. Don't care much about the other forums at the moment

Maybe people get tired of the same stuff being talked about everyday so they stop participating.

For me, there's too much negativity, too many people complaining about what they don't care for. Also, too many people asking questions that could easily be answered by using the search feature.

I agree. Tired of seeing the same questions asked over and over again. Nonetheless, I do love this board.

A lot of TPAS posters find a sense of community within their Happy Dance threads. The Roll Calls are quite long in many of those threads and they problem-solve with others within their "community."

The posters know how to use the Boards to gather info and where to go to seek assistance. I've been tagged to answer questions in Happy Dance threads and it's easy to see and feel their camaraderie.

I had the same situation happen to me. Was very active on the boards beginning about 2000 (as you can tell by the date I joined). Had over 2000 posts, and then one day about 8 years ago, it just went down to about 200. Had to basically start all over again. Never figured out what happened.

I understand the logic behind sub-boards.
But I've seen it on other forums (like a general sports forum that gets broken into team and/or category) the forum split reduces some of the friendly banter that existed in a general forum, because most don't look at "all new posts."

Personally, it seems like half of the interesting topics (to me) get moved to other boards, I check the new location later and the topic is usually dead.

I've definitely noticed a reduction in the number of posts. At one point I think that someone mentioned that people were using Facebook instead of the Boards.

I don't have many posts, but I still come here for fun, and information. Mostly, I click on new posts. When I am planning a vacation, I am more likely to start a thread, if I have a question. Much easier that searching for an answer, sometimes.

Good point. With other means like Facebook and Reddit, unlike the pst, some won't even think of searching for a message board.

I generally don't look elsewhere on the board outside of "theme parks attractions and strategies" and "everything fastpass"

I have that same experience often, too. It seems like posts weren't moved to the sub-forums as much in the past, so TPAS was busier.

I'm here on and off, have been for 9 years now. When I have time, I participate more, other times I'm busy in my personal life, and spend much less time on the boards.

This thread actually got moved from the TPAS forum. That's my point, even that one is so much less active than it used to be. I come and go myself, depending on when my next trip is. I think we lost a few older posters due to illness and them passing away.

I have been around since before 2000 lost post counts several times during the upgrades.

I compare it exactly like you do. I guess I will have to try and just seek out new posts. I admit even tho sometimes something looks interesting I don't click on it if it has been moved.

I do use FB but I have just loved these boards over the years and prefer the format.
