I think you are wonderful for putting forth the effort for Kristen & her siblings. I commend you for being willing to take her in. That is not something to take lightly. (And it is obvious you are not taking this lightly). You are helping the baby and the brother also. Just because you aren't able to bring them into your household does not mean you are not helping them. You are doing more for them than any other adult has managed to do. Best of luck to you.

I was sickened to read this abuse of God's children! I didn't read the original post but got (more than) enough info on this thread to know what's happening to your DD's friend.

For as frustrating as it is for you to try to get CPS to help, it must be so disheartening to the social workers who have to live within these legal constraints, too.

The laws in every state should be setup to inflict harm on these absent parents while protecting the poor kids who were borne to them.

Keep up the good work that you're doing for these kids. You're attempting to allow them to have a good childhood. For that you should be commended.

I'm sending you prayers and well-wishes for these kids.

As for the teacher discussing the situation with you, I can see this happening because you are now a united front to help these kids. It's not like you and the teacher were gossiping, you were strategizing to help some young innocent kids.

Thanks for the update! While I didn't post at all on the other thread, I followed it and was wondering what was going on. I have to say I was really surprised by the negativity that it generated. I'm glad to see that at least the wheels of the system are starting to turn. Bless you for caring enough about these kids to step in and do something. Please let us know what happens.

Thank God these children have you! Your persistance is to be commended.

Following up to what Dr. Deb said, each state has different laws regarding who must report suspected child abuse and neglect. 18 states not only require professionals to report, but require "any person" suspecting abuse to report it.
