What happened to the island?

The jokes on me... !:lmao:

Almost 20 years later... and I STILL have a 7 year old!

Our children are 20 years apart, almost to the day. In May, the oldest will turn 27 and the youngest will turn 7. Of course, there all those other children in between, too.

Disney is the one family vacation we can all agree on. With one out on her own, another away at college, it is also a great way for the children to reconnect with one another.

Oh my....

Sounds like you have a wonderful family.
Disney Moms rule!:woohoo:

Wahhh! The villas we used to stay at AND Discovery Island?!! Ack! I feel like all of my favorite childhood spots are being obliterated. What's next? Why don't they just shut down SM before my kids are old enough to ride. Ok, maybe I'm being a little melodramatic but it stinks not being able to share all of my favorite childhood DW places with my own kids. :sad2:

Are you refeering to the Tree house villas? They are being rebuilt!

In 1992 and 1998 I remember going out to an island with all kinds of birds on it. I believe it was in view of MK. It had a bunch of cool paths and hammocks on the beach. I remember falling asleep in one of the hammocks for a few minutes one afternoon. Our trip in 2006 I noticed that it was closed.:confused3 It kinda had the swiss family tree house feel to it. I wish they would reopen it. That island had attraction written all over it... I wonder what else they could do with it. Does anyone know if its closed forever?

This is in fact where they filmed Jurassic Park:lmao:

Now that is taking me back to my childhood.. That was probably the first "real" waterpark I ever went too. It had to be sometime between 1977-1979 that I was there.

On that same trip we also went on a canoe ride all I remember that it was very dark, and the entire canoe had to yell "STROKE" everytime they put the paddles in the water.

Once at the destination, there was a sing along and marshmellow roasting, etc.

Fun times...
