What Happened to The Haunted Mansion?

I was looking at old pictures of the exterior of the HM compared to a picture I took on my last trip and it's disappointing how obstructed the view is now. Compare the first photo from 1975 below that I found online to the second that I took last October.

I wish it more visible from the queue and Liberty Square?

Have you ever seen a haunted mansion with trimmed up trees? :rotfl2::rotfl2:
I've never actually seen a haunted mansion but you really can see this one either. You can't really see what it is. The covered queue makes it even worse.

It's a HAUNTED MANSION! Frankly, I'd be disappointed if I could see it. And doesn't everyone here complain about the lack of trees?

Dang trees, how dare they grow over the past 40 years. The nerve of them :daisy:

I'm not arborist but I don't think this is a species of tree that gets shaped or trimmed.

I just can't see that it looks bad, sorry. I can still see the house just fine.

I like the way it looked without the trees.
I like it better the way it is now.
I like it even more at night.
I like it the best during MNSSHP.
I think with the trees at night how it's "illuminated" is a good effect, especially at the Halloween party. I guess I just in the minority that I'd like to see the details of the house more. I feel like I'm missing out it all covered up like that.

I think I hate the queue more that the trees. If it wasn't for the covers queue I could have gotten a better pic that that. In my head I just picture walking up to a haunted house I imagine it more ominous from a distance maybe hidden though the trees but as you get closer it's slowly revealed. I don't get the effect. I feel the same way with beasts castle, the forced perspective doesn't work for me, I just see a tiny castle.

This was the first time after dozens of rides on HM that I actually noticed some details of the house. I wish I could walk up closer to the door. Any ever had the luck to go up on the front porch?

I don't know but it just struck me wouldn't it be awesome if they had some characters dressed as the Ghosts out there waving during the Halloween Party?

All the years i have been there, if you hadnt told me either photo was the HM i wouldn't have been able to say. I dont look up heading to the queue and the cover hides quite a bit i guess. I will make sure to look up in December for sure.

I think it's kinda cool that your first photograph and the last photograph are showing the exact same trees!

I don't mind the trees at all, but the covered queue line really does. I have seen pics before and it was nice to see the house from other areas of the park. Now, unless you are getting in line, you can't see the Mansion . I really wished they had pushed that covered line back or something. I am sure even if it was against the building they could have done something with it, like make it seems that you are walking up a fenced path or something.

Related question, anyone ever get behind the scenes of the ride? It looks like there is no part of the ride that actually goes through the mansion part, is that correct? Is there anything in the mansion?
