I can't tell you how much my family loved Margaritaville on every one of our past trips. We'd go multiple times and just love everything about it - the food, service, atmosphere. It was probably my favorite restaurant anywhere!
We're in Orlando now and had it planned to go to Margaritaville several times. After a two-year Orlando hiatus our first trip to Margaritaville in a while was last night and we were so excited!
What a mess. We had a 40-minute wait with a priority seating which is understandable on a Saturday afternoon, but people continuously walked in and were seated right away. Whatever, still not a big deal. Then they stuck six of us in a tiny booth, which mixed with the practically non-existent air-conditioning, it was HOT back there.
My 8-year old cousin ordered a fruit smoothie which our airhead of a waitress brought in a glass. Even our soda was in plastic glasses but she brought an 8-year old a glass. Then, as per the managers explanataion, due to the difference in temperature between the glass and the drink (the glass was hot and the drink was cold) the glass randomly exploded and sliced my cousin's finger open. The manager (I think his name was Steven) was very nice and helpful and had paramedics come to get the glass out of her finger and clean it up. As we were running around cleaning up the table ourselves and helping my cousin, they brought our food out! An 8-year old girl's sitting there bleeding and they're pushing food on the table. Are you serious? We told them to take it all back and the manager assured they'd make us new dishes.
The Volcano nachos, which we used to love, were a bunch of chips thrown on a plate with cold cheese melted on top. We asked for extra guacamole and sour cream and the waitress had her fingers in them when she brought them. Then my mom and I are vegetarians and ordered a Boca burger while my dad ordered a regular burger. We even changed the cheese on ours. When the food was brought back out the waitress assured us the burger she gave us was Boca, and I repeatedly asked her to make sure. She brought us meat.
We got up and left at that point. It was one major mess after another. The manager gave my cousin a free shirt since she was covered in sticky smoothie and offered us his card for a discount when we come back, but we won't be back.
It's disappointing to see how far downhill the restaurant's gone in only two years. The cutbacks are abundant and unfortunately they show. On a brither note, we wound up eating at Finnegan's in Universal and the food and service were great! Finnegans I couldn't reccomend enough... Margaritaville I'd stay far, far away from.
