What happened to Flo's?

When we went to DLR last November, Flo's V8 Cafe was a spot that we hit twice it was so good. The pork with Coke BBQ sauce was awesome as was the other dishes.

So we returned on last week's trip and it was a huge disappointment. I had the Beef and Cheddar melt with the coleslaw. First, that slaw was not good at all - buah. I was expecting more from the B&C with all the talk about it, and I found it OK, but not great and not even that good. My wife had the turkey sandwich and she said she like the turkey sandwich at IHOP that she had on our arrival night a lot more. As far as meals went this week, this one went from the top of our list to the bottom of our list. No wonder it was EMPTY at 12:05 on a Thursday.

Ouch...I'm sad to hear this. Flo's has been one of our faves. We are heading there next week and I've been leery of the new menu but haven't seen a lot of comments about the changes.

I'm glad you warned me so I can manage my expectations. I'll be curious to see if anyone else chimes in with their opinion.

Thanks for the review.

Flo's was the worst food I had on my solo trip in October. I got the Turkey Dip Sandwich and the bottom of the roll was so hard I couldn't bite into it. The turkey was okay, but there was no sauce; just the little bit of gravy on the side to dip in it.

That would have been fine except I ordered mashed potatoes. I was given a tiny scoop with no gravy, so I had to portion the bit I had for the dry sandwich out over the two.

The best part of that meal was the pickle.

Like you, it was totally deserted when I went in at prime dinner hour.

That's exactly what my wife said! She bit the pickle and said, "Finally, something good." That's when you know the meal has crashed and burned. Wishing we would've hit Corn Dog Castle or anything else.

We ate there once. It was a last minute, unbudgeted trip, and it was NOT good. We're vegetarian so it was the veggie tater bake and it was nearly inedible. No amount of mustard (the go-to condiment in our house because so many ketchups have corn syrup and HFCS, which DS and DH cannot have) could save it. Absolutely disgusting for me and DS. We were hungry so we ate it but it's probably the worst meal we've ever had.

That is disappointing to hear. I thought I read about changes or something in another thread.

Like you, it was hit up multiple times on our last trip, at the expense of missing out on other dining venues I wanted to try. So is the Coke BBQ gone? I was thinking of trying the breakfast on our next visit. We did love eating there at night by the racers though. Ambiance has a way of changing my perspective or should I say tastebuds a bit. sad I know

Anyone know if the breakfast is still good? We loved eating there first thing in the morning, after getting fastpasses and riding RSR of course. The waffles and fruit dish was amazing.

We never did try dinner or lunch there... looks like we weren't missing out :(

We ate there the last two mornings.. Still the same for the French toast, american breakfast and the chicken tamales (my favorite!). I would assume you are good.

So sad to hear this! Flo's was a must do for us! Then I heard the menu changed and I was disappointed. Now to have so many people say it isn't even that good makes me wonder if we will even try it next trip. They have until July to fix it. ;)

I wonder if they ever have people ask for a refund if it is that bad. I would go there several times a trip too but will likely skip it in January.

I am probably one of the few people that were excited to see that they were changing the menu as my family wasn't really impressed with the old menu. After hearing everyone's replies, we just might skip it. I'll just go to Jolly Holiday since they are doing a roast beef sandwich over there for the holiday season.

Thanks for posting this. We've been to DL many times and have never tried Flo's but their new menu had me interested, particularly the beef and cheddar. I guess we will continue to walk on by and find something else.

Count us as another family that loved the old menu. We have yet to try the new one, but I hope Disney can figure out what works here. This was one of our family's favorites in DCA, not only because of the food, but because of the atmosphere. It was also nice because they could have easily made this a "burgers and malts" kind of joint, but they had a more unique comfort food type menu. I really hope they figure out a menu that is unique to the land and different than fast food burgers.

our family liked old Flo's too :(

not sure if we will try the new menu on this trip or not -- there are so many other holiday treat I want to have so we may just pass this time around

So disappointed in the new menu. I hadn't actually known about the change until we rolled up to go and eat there. It was actually one of those places we always ate every trip. Wish they'd change it back.

I'm not even sure the issue is the new menu. I wouldn't have minded a good turkey dip sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes. But that's the key word: good. It wasn't. The bread quality was terrible, portions were small and there was no real flavor.

It's one thing to change the menu, as long as what's replacing it is good quality food...

Sooooo bummed about this. We LOVED Flo's and ate there at least once a trip. Guess we will have to find anew favorite at DCA :sad1:

Has anyone tried the new ribs at Flos?

I'm interested in this. I almost tried this, but we were eating at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ the next day where the ribs are good. Didn't want to double up. Haven't tried breakfast either, but I usually just eat a granola bar in the morning and never have anything big. What would be great is if they had breakfast all day like a Route 66 diner would usually do. I can eat biscuits & gravy any meal of the day.
