What happened to Flo's?

Count me in as another person who was upset over the Flo's menu changes. It USED to be one of my new favorite places to eat until they took away the turkey and pork loin dinners...and for what, MORE SANDWICHES! Gee, not enough of those at the resort. It's kind of like when they changed the menu at Carnation Cafe to the point where half of the menu ended up being burgers.

Really, there are so few quick service dining locations at DLR where you can get an actual DINNER plate, and Flo's was one of them. Plus the entree came with TWO sides of your choice and a dinner roll. Now with the sandwiches they come with just one side and a 'predetermined' one at that. The ribs and chicken have two sides but are also predetermined. Honestly if all the sides are the same price anyway I don't understand why the menu now "tells" you which ones the entree comes with instead of just letting you know that you can decide for yourself which ones you want. At any rate, I won't eat there anymore until they bring back the turkey and/or pork loin dinner.

On the plus side, they still have the pasta salad which is delicious.

From all the reports I have read you can substitute any of the sides for others. But I agree about the dinners, they were a nice change from what is typically offered at the CS places. Hopefully Disney will get the message and make some more changes to the Flo's menu or bring back some of these dinners.

Not anymore. You can order an extra side a la carte, but it's up to the CM placing the order if they'll substitute.

On our trip at the end of Feb, we were able to switch sides. And it's a good thing. That cole slaw is one of the worst dishes ever created. My wife and I liked the ribs, but not as much as the ribs at Big Thunder Ranch. Still, we loved those turkey and pork loin dinners.

And BTW, when we first went there in 2013, there was a long line and just a few tables available. Our trip in November and February, we had NO line right at the busy lunch hour both times, and every time I walked by the place looked empty. I always figured this would be THE place to go - I mean it's Flo's V-8!!!! But the place is empty all the time now. Either offer up good food, or drop the price and turn into another burger joint.

Yeah, I know you can substitute any sides you want, I just think it's silly that they now tell you what sides an entree "comes with" when before it just told you "your choice of two sides". Why not just offer up the choice right from the get go and be done with it??

We ate there once. That won't happen again. Even the milkshakes my kids had were gross...pretty hard to screw up a milkshake!

My two cents -They are missing the boat with this location. It should be a huge draw for families to dine within a beautifully themed restaurant in their kids' beloved Carsland AND it should also attract grownups with that back section outdoor seating looking out on the mountain range. It is just lovely back there on a summer evening. Should be a wonderful place to relax over a meal or a beer and some great snack food. They serve beer and wine - now just get some good food to eat and it will be busy all day. They don't need an encyclopedic menu, just at least one solid winner that people will come for (like Plaza Inn's whole business model around the fried chicken.) It could be a diner food classic like mac and cheese but make an excellent epic version of it that draws a fetishy fan-base.

Several weeks ago we enjoyed the side of vegetables and a fruit cup we grabbed for a snack while we were waiting for the Carsland lighting. We had eaten our fill of many of DLR's greater pleasures and we felt the need to eat healthy at that moment. Flo's met the need and we thought it tasted good. But we noticed there was very little traffic into the restaurant. It is the cutest restaurant and I hope that Disney reconsiders the menu choice and fixes the situation. They seem penny-wise and pound foolish in this case.

We were there in Feb and although our family enjoyed our meal DH and I have talked several times about how RANDOM we feel the menu is. Flo's is a 50's diner - we expected to be able to get things like burgers, malts or milk shakes, fries - you know 50's diner food. We didn't understand how the menu at ALL fit the theme of the restaurant and think that if they made it over into more of a malt shoppe type menu it would be a bigger hit. It was reasonably crowded when we were there, more heavy then anyone predicted, and we had no issues at ALL finding a table for 7 when other places were more crowded. IDK maybe my idea of a 50's diner is different being from Canada but it wasn't AT ALL what we thought the food would or should be.

Like maaan....what kind of fetish are we talking about here? lmao

Well that sucks. I haven't eaten there yet, but was planning a breakfast & dinner in July. I guess we'll just stick with the breakfast & plan on someplace else for the dinner. Thanks for the heads up everyone!

If only they would listen to you! I don't know if anyone remembers but the DLH used to have a 50's diner type restaurant before DCA. At the time DL mostly offered the boring flat theme park burgers at counter service so we would go over to the DLH to eat. They had a jukebox and offered the burger and fries and milkshakes and also the diner "plate specials" like Flo's used to have.

MONORAIL CAFE! One of the best DL restaurants ever. It is sorely missed. As a matter of fact when Flo's was first announced I think a lot of people were hoping it would become sort of the "new" Monorail Cafe, but that never happened, unfortunately.

That must be it. Funny I didn't remember the name. We just called it "that 50's place". I still miss it!

I ate there two days ago. I had the turkey dip with the pasta salad and it was really good! I liked it a lot, both the pasta and the sandwich :) Though they called the dip an "au jus" and it wasn't, it was a gravy. Still nummy.

I wish they would make the menu better and the food. I want to try it but I have heard so much about the new menu that I don't know if i want to waist 30 bucks there.
