Today was the second Sunday in a row that my newspapers contained absolutely no coupons. I used to get a bunch of them and go through and cut out those I could use. But now there are no coupons to be had in the Sunday newspaper.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is this now a permanent thing? If so, where do I go now for my food/grocery coupons?

Thanks all.

It's your paper. We get 3 different papers on Sunday and all 3 had 3 inserts today - Red Plum, Smart Source & a Proctor & Gamble.

I bought the Detroit paper today and had these same 3 inserts.

This week there were three inserts.

Last week there were no inserts due to the holiday.

I had 3 inserts this week as well. Are you buying the paper from a store? Or getting it delivered? If you bought it from a store, maybe someone went through and took the coupons out?

Check Southernsavers.com for a list of weeks not scheduled for coupons. It's almost always a holiday weekend. Mine had 3 inserts ($237 in coupons, according to the front of the paper), and I bought 2.

Same 3 in my paper but I get them on Saturday. For some reason my paper delivers the ads on Saturdays. I don't mind at all since I can then go shopping first thing on Sunday, if needed.

I always check my Sunday paper before I buy it.

There are people who go to the store, go through the Sunday papers, and take the coupons. In smaller stores (like a corner store), there are times the owners will take all the coupon inserts out and pay someone to clip all the coupons so they can cash them in.

Just the Proctor and Gamble insert for me. Someone at the local diner thinks that the coupon companies want you to go online and get the coupons.

My paper this sunday only had one of the 3 coupon inserts (Smart source). I was really disappointed because all last week, Proctor and Gamble was advertising that there would be a special coupon insert, and I didn't get it:mad:

Around here, the section with all the ads/coupons is in a separate, sealed bag--so I know that no one "took it out"

We only had 1 insert in yesterday's paper...Figures, the day I go grocery shopping and there isn't much!

I'm in Central Jersey, and I noticed a change in the quality and quanitity of coupons a few years ago. I started buying the papers from the larger cities to the north and south of us to get a better selection and they, too, started going down hill. It wasn't even worth me buying the paper. It's getting to the point where I don't even look through them because they're mostly advertisements for some commemorative thing, Michigan Bulb, etc. They've gone from 2 inserts to 1. This past weekend, we had the Smart Source and Procter Gamble. But the PG one is practically the same on from a few weeks ago, so I'm already stocked up (combined those with coupons from a Target mailing, so I did well).

When my kids were little, I was able to rack up over $200 in coupons savings a month. Now, next to nothing. And the "double" coupons in this area are terrible. They only double up to $0.99. Most of the coupons in the paper now are $1.00 of 2 items. Not a great deal, IMHO. Also, I saw one on PG for $.20 off Downey. Are they serious? $.20???? That was a coupon amount when I was a kid!!!

To combat all this, I'm lucky to have a Wegman's nearby and their store brands are pretty good. When I can, I double up coupons with a Target circular. There isn't a Target Greatland or a Super Walmart nearby, but I can get some things at Walmart - usually milk, bread, and snack crackers. Thank goodness it's summer because we have a small garden and there's a local u-pick.

My paper had all three of the inserts this weekend. I check the paper before I buy it to make sure they are all there. If the Portland paper does not have them all, I'll check the New Hampshire and Boston papers to see if they are better. I just prefer the Portland paper because it usually has better coupons and my DH likes their TV listings better than the others.

I didn't get the P&G insert last month so I sent an email to the Customer Service (info found on their website) and I got mailed a few coupons for some of their brands. It wasn't much of anything that I would use, but at least it was something.

I agree with the above poster about the quality of coupons, especially the $.20 Downey one. Wow, I can save a bundle there :rotfl2:. We have no stores in my area that double coupons anymore and I have found none for the foods we really eat so clipping them for me is really a waste.

Our local paper lost their contract with the coupon companies so that's why I'm cancelling my subscription! I can buy another town's paper and get my coupons (the only reason I subscribe!).
