What happened on the boards last night?

Yikes! Did anyone see the xrated posts that were on last night? I made the mistake of opening the first one I saw thinking it was a joke and was treated to pics of a naked guy!

Then I saw the whole first page was full of these kinds of posts.OMG! Thankfully the boards went right down for "maintenance" shortly thereafter. To be honest, I felt almost scared, as if some perv had come right into my house. Kind of the way you feel if you get a prank call, but worse in a way cause it was pretty nasty.

I have been on these boards since 1997 and that is the first time I have ever come across something even close to that. Was I dreaming (a la Sopranos) or did anyone else have the surprise that I did?

I didn't see any pictures, I just got empty threads. Sounds like I was lucky! LOL

Trolls, they are everywhere! Its happened here a few times before but always been taken care of quickly.

I saw them too. I was pretty shocked. I know you just never know when it comes to public boards, but I guess I just didn't think that kind of thing would happen here. Oh well. I was very impressed with how quickly the DIS Moderators (or whoever it was) closed down the boards to clean off those posts! Way to go DIS Team!!!!!

Oh gosh, I forgot to say thanks to the mods and the tech people for taking care of things!


I know that it is a public board, but you just feel kind of weirded out thinking that there are those kind of people out there on "my boards!"

But I have to say, I felt sooo creepy for the rest of the night.

I was very happy when I logged on this morning and saw all the nice friendly posts I have come to look forward too.

I opened a thread--no pics, though, and got the meaning after reading it a time or two. I hit report to moderator and typed my complaint. When I finished that, I noticed all of those vulgar threads which said in plain terms what the one I had opened said. While attempting to get to the poster's profile, the boards went down.

Hooray for the mods who cleaned things up so quickly! I would imagine this user has been banned. I noticed that he was new.

I was on chat ...let came to the CB and raced back to chat to tell the Host/mods...they got right on it...but not before the troll had filled almost the entire page...

I was on last night too....I hit "report post to a moderator" right away, but as soon as I did that, the whole page was full! Luckily, I didn't have to see the pics.

Wow! The board was taking forever to load for me so I gave up for a few minutes. When I came back it said it was down for maintenance. I always miss the fun!!

I recall one other time the site was bombed a few years back. Tough night. I wonder if Alex or someone can explain how the heck someone was able to get past the flood control. I did not see it last night, we were out at a new firefighter swearing in ceremony, one of Vince's buddies, but did see the boards down when I returned.

Good quick action like that is what makes the DIS what it is........home, and we do like our home nice. Thanks guys.
