I have always used Loreal Excellence and now I need an American alternative. Any suggestions?

Only my hairdresser knows for sure!

Whatever she uses, she has to mix several different shades of blonde to get the color I get. I have lots of red undertones, so she has to use some 'ash' to make sure the red doesn't dominate.

Good luck, I know someone here can help you out!

color brown sugar..covers my slightly graying spots..and does an excellent job..I love the smell (fresh fruit/apples)..doesn't burn or sting..and lasts quite a while!

L'Oreal owns (this list is only haircolor) Redken and Matrix and Garnier. I am not sure if Ombrelle is soap or haircolor so I'll list it also. :o

Proctor and Gamble owns Clairol (and many other but this is the only haircolor)

Good luck.

Hi Dawn- I have my color done at the salon and they use Goldwell which is the best I've ever used. And I've tried many. Is Loreal Excellence store bought? Are you trying to stay with that type? Maybe Clairol would be an acceptable American alternative.

Yes, the Loreal I use is store bought and the coverage has been as good as when I was going to the salon. It is just convenient because I can do "other things" during the 40 minutes. I wonder which Clairol product gives good gray coverage? I may end up going to the salon after all.

I hope you realize that by boycotting a "French" company you're actually boycotting an American company and oputting Americans out of work.L'Oreal USA

L'Oréal USA, based in New York, NY, is a subsidiary of L'Oréal S.A., headquartered in Paris, France. L'Oréal develops and manufactures haircare, haircolor, skincare, color cosmetics and fragrances for the consumer and professional markets.
Our distribution network of salons, mass-market, specialty and department stores makes L'Oréal USA the most comprehensive beauty company in the United States.

All product division headquarters and operation departments are located in New York City with the exception of Soft Sheen/Carson which is located in Chicago, and Dermablend which is located in New Jersey.

or did you think the products were imported from Paris?

I shampoo with ARTec Kiwi shampoo and it is the best shampoo I have ever used. It is made by L'Oreal's professional line. I agree with BR. And I'd stick to what works. Chances are good if you go to a salon, they may not tell you what kind they use (sometimes it is a big secret LOL) but popular brands are Redken, Matrix, Goldwell etc. and of course, L'Oreal has a profession line too.

I certainly hope with your being so concerned with buying American made products that you have an American made car.

Dawn, I know what you mean about the "other things" in that 40 minutes! LOL I've just accepted it and use it as a time to catch up on whatever book I'm currently reading.
I'm not sure but I think it might be Clairol Hydriance that works pretty good.

Debbie

I am too scared to color my own hair! I like to leave important stuff like that to the trained professionals :D

Clairol Hydrience-suntan/light golden brown. Not bad-Supposedly the most natural according to Consumer Reports several years ago.

Or Americans back to work by using Clairol.

It was an American Car when I bought it. My Chrysler became a Mercedes. (Daimler Chrysler). Actually despite the rhetoric from the Germans, there are a small contingent of German troops in theatre.
