I want to give a guide book to my niece since I will be taking her in August. Any recommendations?

I am also going to see if her mom will let her start surfing the DIS so she can start her own planning. I am so excited about this trip!

I like Birnbaum's Walt Disney World. It's a nice combo of text and pictures and my kids, one who is 13, likes looking at it too.

i agree with dolewhipmom. birnbaums is colorful and describes all the attractions that a 13yo would most likely appreciate. many of the other guide books are more technical about ratings, touring plans etc. though i read all of them. go with birnbaums

thanks! I was thinking about that. I thought I had a copy from 2007, but I can't seem to find it. I'm sure I will find it as soon as I send her a new one.

It might be too young for her, but Guide to the Magic was a great book for our tweens. I loved the format with a picture and comments on each ride, and a place to note whether you rode it or not (with a sticker from the back of the book). There was space to keep a diary of each day (up to 14), to rate and comment on each ride, even to track expenses (more for parents). It even listed some hidden Mickeys to look for on many of the rides, and included scavenger hunts for each land. I thought it was a bit big to take to the parks, but I did see other kids with it, filling it out while in line. If she takes it to the park it has spots to get the nations from World Showcase passport stamps and spots for character autographs.

I just thought it was really neat, though you would need to look at one in person to decide if it was too young for your niece. I thought it was invaluable for prepping my guys for the next day's park...

I love the Guide to the Magic. But my DD was 9. It might be young for 13 but it was cool. The website has good pictures if you want to look at it before you buy. I don't remember the exact website but just google it.

My DS12 loves the Complete Walt Disney World Guides. They have really good pictures and a relatively short synopsis of each ride.

my 13 yo love the birnbaums for kids and the regular birnbaums. I got him his own copy of birnbaums for kids and I haven't seen it since.
