Will be driving in from MCO, where is close to shop (I would prefer someplace that is on the way if possible.) Just for basics, milk, eggs, juice - nothing fancy.

TIA

Check in first and drop off your bags. Then leave hotel and turn right on main road (AIA?) There is a new Publix just a few minutes down the road-full grocery store-decent prices.
Have a great time. We love Vero Beach.

Don't forget to stop at Hales for fresh OJ!

I'm not familiar with this one. I am familiar with turning west at the intersection at the north end of the resort (first light) going over the bridge to the mainland and at the first light turning right and going north on route 1 . It's about 10 minutes from the resort. Decent chinese take out at the Publix shopping area, and I've also used the barber at the same area. Walmart is further north on Route 1, perhaps 10 minutes more.

That could be one and the same Publix! I'm only a passenger while on a vacation. Not the driver!! LOL. Check with the resort. I know that it is only a few minutes from the resort and new in the last few years.

I'm sorry, it's Hale Groves. It is a citrus grower and we often mail order from them by catalog. The store is on the same highway as the Publix. They had a huge selection of different types of oranges last March when we were there, and they had truly the finest oj DH and I have ever had. There was also a butterfly garden, but I'm not sure why we didn't enter it, maybe we were there at the wrong season for butterflies.

Because of the hurricanes, perhaps the stand isn't there any more. We aren't going to Vero until Memorial weekend, and we do plan to stop there.

PS. Yes, I think if you follow the directions to Vero that is stated on the reservation, you will pass the Publix and Hale Groves. The Publix will be on your right and Hale Groves is on the left as you are driving south on Rt. 1.

Hales was still there when we were in Vero in early December, but it was closed. It did not appear damaged, but there was much down there and further south that was. VB resort was in very good condition, better than the buildings surrounding it and the CM's were GREAT! :)

We did stop at the Publix on Route 1 instead of the WalMart that you described. Both are very good.

Paula in CT, you can pass this Publix depending on how you drive there from MCO. DrBond007's directions from the resort were "right-on".

From MCO, if, after exiting I-95 onto 512E, you follow Rte 512 East all the way to Route 1 South as the Disney directions indicate, I believe that you will pass Publix on the right just before you get to the Route 510 East (left turn) to A1A and Vero.

Yes, Publix is on US 1. Corrner of US1 and Barber, I believe.

I do my grocery shopping there almost daily. They have a nice selection of bakery items, seafood and fresh fruit (among other things)

Hale Groves is also on US 1. You will pass it on the way to Publix.
They are open for business. You won't be able to tour the groves, though. They are closed due to the citrus canker. You can buy fresh juice, jams, jellies, etc.

Enjoy!

Now if it was only time for me to go...
LOL
