We bought a turkey breast which is marinating in our refrigerator. We are cooking it on the grill in a foil pan this weekend, but I need some side dishes to go with it. Normally when we have turkey, we have the usual mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberries, etc. but this is to be eating like a picnic type of thing.
Any ideas?:confused3

Corn on the cobb & sweet potato fries.

Great suggestions! We do corn on the cob on the grill by smearing butter, sprinkling salt/pepper and wrapping in foil then indirect heat for about 25 minutes.

Or you can do regular potato wedges on the grill if you're not into sweet potatoes. Cut either (or even a mix of both) in wedges, mix in bowl with olive oil and seasonings and place in a packet made from a double layer of foil. Grill over indirect heat for about 20 minutes flipping packet over halfway through.

Also, lots of make-ahead salads/slaws--cole slaw, broccoli slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, cranberry-orange salad, corn bread salad, fruit salad or even just in season fruits such as berries or watermelon....

Happy Grilling!

Turkey, room temp wild rice salad, cranberry orange muffins, marinated green bean salad, w/ sweet potato pie as desert.

This is always a hit at my house to go with chicken or turkey.

Take some foil and make a pocket. Essentially take a large piece, fold in half and then roll the remaining 3 sides--leave one open. I think you can buy these pockets pre-made but I always do it myself.

Then cut up a bunch of peppers (many colors), onions, tomatoes---whatever your family likes. Mix up all the vegetables and place inside the foil pocket. Add some EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)--not much maybe 1-2 Tablespoons to go with 3-4 cut up vegetables and then close your pocket.

Place on indirect heat for about 20 minutes--sort of depends on if you like crispy or more cooked veggies.

Dump pocket in bowl to serve---watch your family inhale.

since you're grilling, and usually have mashed potatoes with your turkey, how about wrapping potatoes in foil and grilling them as well? enjoy it, it sounds YUMMY!

that's funny we are having the same thing tonight
DH is smoking turkey breast
I am making baked beans to go with it and probably orzo and tomato salad

Holy yowza, you guys are good -- all of these sound absolutely amazing! I'm barely through my first cup of coffee this morning and you've got me starving. :worship:

Potato salad--mine has finely chopped fresh dill, cider vinegar, coarse dijon mustard, plus the usual mayo and sour cream, green onions. I also do fresh sliced garden tomatoes drizzled with EVOO, chopped basil and pepper. Home made tabbouleh is very yummy too!

We do something very similar but with potatoes, onions, and carrots. The sugars caramelize so nicely and help the potatoes get crispy. YUM!

Now I have to make these!
