What Gives?

Is there something special going on the weekend of Nov. 10-13th this year? I believe the marathon should be over by this point. I realize it is veterans day weekend too. We are DVC members and there isn't any room availability for those dates! We really wanted to head down for a long weekend, but it looks like that may not be an option.

If you're talking about "with your DVC points," DVC high season is from mid-September through January marathon, with especially high demand during Food & Wine. 4 months out most of the year has limited availability for DVC, but November and early December are two times where 7 month booking is the outside of the planning window you need to assume with DVC.

I find it hard to believe that SSR or OKW would be totally booked. I seem to always get emails from Dave's website with last minute specials to both of those resorts. I just checked online and there seems to be a lot of non-DVC rooms available for those dates.

I went around that time in 2013. When I tried to book in September at BWV (Pool/Garden), nothing was available pretty much anywhere (don't remember if I checked OKW or SSR). I was able to pull together 5 nights by waitlisting and grabbing nights off the website as they became available.

Jersey Week... Schools are off (well some...but all are off the 10th and 11th) and people go down. I am one of them... but my husband is there the following week for a convention. I couldn't even get a flight back to NJ on Sunday and had to go to a different airport an hour and a half away!!

Even SSR and OKW have had big availability gaps this fall in October and November. The increase in rental popularity has definitely played a role. When I flip-flopped a booking at 7 months, by the time I was done I couldn't have gotten my original booking (at SSR!) back.

wow i didn't realize this was such a popular time to use DVC points!!! i had veterans day off of work and thought it would be the perfect time for a weekend getaway but i think we'll reconsider! its true, no DVC room availability at SSR or OKW, which blows my mind.
