What Gets You Excited?

Ooh quite a few things, some not even 'strictly Disney' ;)
* Watching videos of fireworks, parades, shows etc on Youtube
* Listening to my Disney music CDs in the car
* Collecting Disney pins on eBay when i'm not at the parks
* Any acronyms I see that are similar to Disney ones.. Like when I got a criminal records clearance to work with kids the acronym for the form was CRB.. Just made me think CBR! OK, that one was kinda silly
* Looking at my Disney 'shelves' where I keep my plushes and pins
* Going to The Disney Store
* Planning, planning and planning some more! So glad I have this forum and others to post on cos my bf is already sick of hearing about Disney/Orlando/Florida/next September

DestinationDisney...that sounds all too familar. my dbf dislikes disney and everything disney related and hates hearing me talk about it alll the time. haha, he has gone to disney the past 2 years with my family and i. the first time he was maybe a lil bit anxious (not quite excited) bc it was his first time going. this past summer he was like whatever its a vacation and its cheap (since my family pays for the room and his plane ticket). well i took it upon myself to tell him that just the 2 of us are going in december to see the christmas decorations (and to make good use of our anuals). he dosn't want to go and is a stick in the mud about it but he dosn't have much choice bc its already paid for. he says hes had enough disney for at least 10 years. little does he know that im not satisified unless i go at least once a year and its torture if i don't go every other year. :goodvibes so...i know what its like. when are you guys going in december? we'll be leading around the unmagical men in our lives. haha. well i hope he is a better sport than mine! goodluck! :thumbsup2

....... for Disney!! (Those of you with dirty minds, shame on you!! :sad2: :rotfl2: )

We have 3 months until our trip to Disney, and I have "waiting blues" :guilty: . Its crazy, because we have a trip coming up in a month or so to Punta Cana and I'm hardly excited about it. I'm starting to feel a little guilty because that trip was more expensive than Disney and we've had it planned for so long. My DBF tells me I'm Disney obsessed and he's starting to get worried about me!
I never realized how clueless he is about Disney and all the different characters. So, I'm making him watch ALL the Disney movies with me so he can learn which character is which and I'm thinking that he'll better appreciate Disney when we go in December. Poor guy, he says I'm going overboard and the whole Disney mania is making him crazy!!
So far in the past 2 weeks, we've watched Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Lady and the Tramp, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin, Tarzan, and Pocahantas....and we still have a TON to go!
So....besides this board, what do you do that gets you excited for your Disney trip? I think I'm going overboard with the movies, so maybe something else?
disney obsessed you i doubt it. i watch at least once a month a few of our videos from 2003 or 2004 or 2005 trips. now i have to wait til 2007 to return. so i look at my pictures and videos. i read the DIS. i look at youtube.com for others videos. i decorate the home to each season(dont matter what time of year) we just love to enjoy it.we have most of the disney catalog when it comes to movies. just a few ideas. heck look at webshots.com for photos. (tons of them trust me) i hope this helps

I love all of the responses!! :goodvibes

I can't believe I never knew there was Disney Radio!! I'm right there with those of you who like listening to the park music. Hillary Duff isn't exactly "Disney music" to me. I'd rather hear the park music and the ride music, and the rides!!

That Disney video link is really addicting...this should keep me busy for quite a while. My BF keeps telling me that I ruin all of the surprises because I look everything up and then I know where everything is when I get there. I guess thats how I am...an obsessive compulsive planner! Geez, could you imagine if we didn't have computers!?!

dislovr - I have a strong feeling that you and your BF will have an even better time going just as a couple. :lovestruc We went on our first Disney trip together this past February and it was so nice just the 2 of us. So many of our friends would comment "why do you want to go to Disney as a couple, without kids? Are you insane??" At first, we were worried that we'd be in lines of screaming kids...but it was actually the exact opposite (well yeah there were a few cranky moments but they were far outweighed). I LOVED seeing the kids faces lite up when they saw the characters or get excited to go on the rides. We loved spending time in Disney just the 2 of us together and I think you will feel the same way.

My BF just keeps saying that I have a "vacation addiciton" bc I keep wanting to schedule more vacations. He keeps saying we just went to WDW in Feb and its ridiculous to go again in December. But this will be our first time there during the holidays and I'm so excited to see Disney decorated for Christmas! I think once it comes closer they'll both be more excited. (Lets hope!!)

Oh, and we'll be there from Dec 25-30th...how about you??

good to hear...i think he thinks that we'll be bored or something...i don't know. im excited about it being just the 2 of us. i have a nice dinner at narcosses followed by a carriage ride the one night so that will be really special for us. i hope your right though....oh were leaving before the auctual christmas rush. we will be there the 17-22. even though it'll be really busy when your there its still enjoyable. i went that week a few years ago. just take your time and enjoy watching everyone rush and try to fight the crowds. i think thats the most fun! haha. and if you didn't already believe it is possible for disney to be more magical...those christmas decorations do the trick. i hope you have the best time!

Oh the carriage ride sounds so romantic...that should be very nice!! Thank you so much for your well wishes! I know it's going to be crazy, especially coming in on Christmas Day. We definitely plan on taking our time and enjoying the decorations and just doing what we can. I hope you have a wonderful time too!!

I think the thing that gets me the most excited is seeing how excited my DS and DD get when we talk about going. Or for that matter any time we see a plane fly over the house my DD (2) tells me the plane is going to Disney...and that she wants to go on the plane. "ME TOO!!!"

We are in the process of trying to plan two trips for 2007, one in February and one in August. I can't wait.

I have a Disney countdown on my computer (a Mac) and whenever I start getting bogged down with school work and feel like the trip is never going to happen I just look at the countdown and it makes me get excited. :cloud9: 24 days to go!!!!

I also read a little in the Unofficial Guide (or the DIS) before I go to bed so I'm thinking about the trip before I sleep instead of what I have to do the next day. (Be careful that with this method and don't get the "I'm too excited to sleep" syndrome that is common among Disneyphiles!)

The specials on TV help my DH get excited. Play up what might be your DBFs favorite park (i.e. DH would rather talk about AK than MGM).

Hope this helps a little.

I love all the ideas!! I can hardly get sleep now as it is....I can't imagine how it will be when the trip comes closer!! :surfweb:

I'm really looking forward to when I have kids and I get to see their faces the first time I take them to Disney World! :teeth:

Oh my god! Thank you for this link! I love watching Disney documentaries on the Travel show and ABC shows filmed in WDW (my favorite is prolly Roseanne, I love when Darlene is won over by Pooh). Thanks again!

I love the planning videos and of course these boards. I also like the Birnbaum Guide, that always gets me in the mood.

The waiting is part of the fun. I have been married for 15 years. I'm 42 now and my wife is 46. When we got married we went to Disney on our honeymoon. She was 32 and was never there. Up until that point she really didn't get it. Thank God after all these years now she gets it.

We recently went on a non-Dis vacation and vowed to each other only Disney from now on. It really can't be beat.

My DD is 12 and she is just as obsessed as me. Maybe when we become empty nesters we will venture out into the grown-up world as far as vacations go (ie. cruises, the islands), but for now it's Disney and Fantasy.
