....... for Disney!! (Those of you with dirty minds, shame on you!! :sad2: :rotfl2: )

We have 3 months until our trip to Disney, and I have "waiting blues" :guilty: . Its crazy, because we have a trip coming up in a month or so to Punta Cana and I'm hardly excited about it. I'm starting to feel a little guilty because that trip was more expensive than Disney and we've had it planned for so long. My DBF tells me I'm Disney obsessed and he's starting to get worried about me!

I never realized how clueless he is about Disney and all the different characters. So, I'm making him watch ALL the Disney movies with me so he can learn which character is which and I'm thinking that he'll better appreciate Disney when we go in December. Poor guy, he says I'm going overboard and the whole Disney mania is making him crazy!!

So far in the past 2 weeks, we've watched Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Lady and the Tramp, Little Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin, Tarzan, and Pocahantas....and we still have a TON to go!

So....besides this board, what do you do that gets you excited for your Disney trip? I think I'm going overboard with the movies, so maybe something else?

Have to say this board is always a click or 2 away but looking at pictures hanging around the house from previous trip and the anticipation. I will be there Dec 8-12. My youngest is 6 and asked me this weekend if she could start packing....gotta love it

Wow this sounds like my dbf and I! :rotfl2: Maybe we should start a support group for those like us.

I found that unlike me my bf does not want to watch... Toy Story, The Incredibles, The Little Mermaid or whatever movie as much as I do. Although he has seen a ton of Disney movies and knows all the main stream characters.

But I've found he gets more excited if I play up the things about Disney that don't scream Disney to other people. We saw Pirates of the Carribean 2, which he loved. I've told him all about the Halloween party because Halloween is his favorite holiday and showed him pictures that they have on the DIS website. I've told him about all the different dinning options and how great the places we're going are. Youtube.com has video of some of the different rides and that might get him excited. Oh and I talked to my boyfriend all about the water parks and disneyquest because those are his types of places. (And mine too but what isn't as disney?)

I'll tell you my boyfriend wasn't excited three months out but now less the two weeks away he tells me he has butterflies in his stomach because he's excited. (I'm not a butterfly in the stomach type of girl but I jumping around excited person. :Pinkbounc ) Another trick I picked up is if I want to ask my bf a question about certain plans for the trip I mention it briefly, if he's shrugs it off I let it go and ask again later. Now we've gotten to the point where he'll sit me down and ask me a thousand questions about WDW. (He hasn't been in 12 years and even then he only went to two of the parks.) Doing these things helped me get my disney fix while trying to get a little more disney spirit in my bf. Of course I surf the DIS, watch my Disney dvds(when he's not around) and listen to my disney cds in my car(also when he's not around.) Oh and I highly suggest the Disney cds, I think it's like the Greatest Hits or something. They have music from all the different Disney movies, I love listening to it in my car.

I'm so long winded, sorry!

Oh!! Thanks for the link on the Disney TV shows! :thumbsup2 I've already marked the Disney wedding shows down in my planner...I'll definitely be watching those!

There definitely should be a support group for those like us!! Haha!

I think the movies are really starting to make my DBF nuts. I'm a fan of the Disney classics, but I also really did like Finding Nemo and some of the other newer ones. I still haven't seen Toy Story, Incredibles, Cars or any of the newer movies. I think the Pirates of the Caribbean movie is a good idea...we still haven't seen the 2nd one and he's been bugging me to see it. I think that will help push him into the Disney obsession :stir:

I think it also probably has to do with the fact that we were just in WDW this past February so he feels like he's already had his dose of Disney. However this time we'll be there during Christmas and I think it will be even more special. I watched the free Disney DVD last night and there was a part on there about "special events" and something on Christmas in Disney. I made him look over during that part and he seemed excited about all the lights and the festivities.

I've made all our dining reservations and I asked his opinion on places but he just says "whatever you want, I don't care". I'm sure once it comes closer, he'll be asking where we're eating and where its at, etc.

Now...the Disney cds, why didn't I ever think of that?!? What a great idea and I can listen to them in my car on my way to work!

Oh and by the way...I'm not sure if your name was a reference, but Mary Poppins has always been one of my favorite Disney movies. In fact, when I was younger....my babysitter told my mom she couldn't babysit me anymore unless I watched a different movie other than Mary Poppins every single time she came over!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I excite myself.

Hey, get your mind out of the gutter! :sad2:

Seriously, just thinking about Disney World gets me excited. What I do to make that excitement manageable is watch Disney movies, go online and read the DIS, watch ride videos people have posted on you tube, read my 25th or 30th anniversary Disneyland hardbound books, or read the guide books (Unofficial Guide, Passporter, Official Guide). If I didn't do those things, I'd end up booking a flight for DW and I to MCO on the next plane out of ORD! ;)

Today I watched the planning DVD, but these boards and the DVD souvenirs we have for WDW/MK usually do the trick!

I'm more a fan of the classics too but I've seen all the Pixar movies except for Cars. I suggest at least seeing Finding Nemo because it is really cute and with all the nemo stuff down at WDW I think you'd enjoy it more. Pirates 2 was so good, I'm actually trying to figure out how I can see it again before my trip!!

I've never done the Christmas party but Disney at Christmas time is great. My family has gone twice at the time and I love all the different things they do there for the holidays. From the lights on the hotels to the Osbourne Lights at MGM it's so pretty.

I swear our bfs are seperated at birth. Mine did the same thing with the ADRs. But now... oh he's all into it and he's saying I really wish we could eat here or there. I'm like yeah remember when I asked you months ago about this? I know him well enough that we're eating most the places he wanted.

The cds are so great. I happened to buy one when I was having a down day and needed a pick me up. Now I love listening to them.

It is because of Mary Poppins! My mom says that when I was younger I learned to use the VCR just so I could put that in. She said when she would feed my younger brother she'd put that on and I'd sit quietly the whole time. She even bought me a frilly white umbrella like Mary had.

Getting something in the mail that says, "Stay at any Disney Value Resort for $48 per night on selected dates"!!! Sadly, I haven't gotten another one of those since hurricane season in 2004...and yes, we went for it!! :thumbsup2

A couple of weeks before I go I usually re-read the coffee table book "Remembering Walt: Favorite Memories of Walt Disney" and spend a lot of time reading various Disney websites. While on the plane I relax and listen to the Offical WDW Album. Once I under those purple arches, I just about lose it.

This board definately helps. I also listen to DisRadio all the time when online. I've saved Disney pictures as my screen saver so it does a slide show of great pictures. We listen to either radio disney or disney cds when we're in the car. We're constantly watching the disney channel. My dds have princess things everywhere (their beds are painted in mainstreet yellow and tinkerbell green) I'm also reviewing our ADR spreadsheet - that reminds me I have to reschedule the girls' bibbity bobbity boutique appointment.

I wear a Disney italian charm bracelet that always makes me smile when I look at it because I'm going to start buying a new charm everytime we go.

I work nights at Cracker Barrel and almost everynight I'm talking to people about going in only 74 more days.. not that I'm counting or anything.

What great ideas!! I already have the "Wishes" soundtrack, but I'd really like to have some more Disney music. I'll have to either look on amazon.com or go to the store after work to look for some good Disney cds.

Poppispal - I've seen Finding Nemo and I absolutely loved it, so cute! :goodvibes I just don't think the other Pixar movies appeal to me. I heard Toy Story was cute, maybe I'll give that a try. Oh, and I'm so jealous of your Mary Poppins umbrella!!

TinaLaLa - How do you listen to Disney Radio? Is this something done by Syrius or XM? ...because I have neither. :guilty:

As many have said, this board really helps me get excited.

Also, the many Disney videos on YouTube and Google Videos as well as shows on the Travel Channel and Food.

And, of course, my own memories. Oh! And listening to the park music on my MP3 player.

I have a local station in RI on an AM station. Go to radiodisney.com put your state in and it will tell you your local station. They play kid music, Hillary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, High School Musical, etc. and then from 12pm to 2pm (?) during the week BBGood has Playhouse Disney music with a Disney character as a guest and they do storytime. We love it. If you have one locally they also do store openings and things like that that you can go to and win prizes. Our local mall just had them sponser a 'Groovy' day with the cabbage pack kids, ninja turtles, WINK and smokey bear.

I like it better then regular radio channels because it's child appropriate!! Check it out.

Well I like to buy special things just for the vacation. And then when I get home, I put them in my suitcase til we get to officially pack.

Getting my docs, and DME tags always works for me. LIstening to CD'S, home videos, and looking at pictures from previous trips.

I find the last 2 weeks of waiting so painfully long. Started at 180 days! Now that we are ao close to leaving, the kids and DH are open to talking about Disney alot more. They think I'm a pain because I ALWAYS talk Disney, but I'm so glad that they now engage in the excitement too. Before that, They weren'T interested cause it felt too far away to them.

Just booking the next trip and paying the $200 downpayment sets off the butterflies for me :rotfl2:

The easiness of everything, the relaxed feeling you have when you are there, going to the parks, the food, the not having to drive anywhere but take Disney transportation...umm just about everything about Disney excites me and my family!

Can't wait until we go back again :sunny:

For me it's Disney-focused internet radio stations. I work in my own little closed up office, so I have it on all day -- and I tell you, $6 a month at Live365.com never made me so deliriously happy. I listen to the stations that are strictly park/resort audio such as Park Hopper, all the different MouseWorld stations, etc. I hate to say it, but I don't like the DIS radio so much -- it's too much of everything Disney and I'd rather just hear park stuff.

I'm telling you, as many times as we've been, I'm way more excited this trip thanks to the Disney radio stations. Just sitting and listening to the entire audio track for Carousel of Progress or El Rio del Tiempo makes me smile so hard my face hurts at the end of the day. And when I get to hear all of Spaceship Earth, it gives me goosebumps every single time and ratchets up my excitement even more.

The guys here think I'm nuts, especially when I sit and listen to a full hour of nothing but background music from Frontierland (that is the BEST), but I don't care. :)
