What generation American/Canadian/etc are you?

Wouldn't that make you fourth generation?
My great-grandparents were the first here, too...
This generation counting gets me confused.

I counted it as me being the first person to be born in America..I don't know if I did it right. My parents came here, both at different times, but they weren't born here. So that makes me first gen.?

First generation American on my mom's side, she moved from Canada to here.
Second generation on my dads side, he was first generation American, my grandpa / grandma are from Canada.
