What Friends/Family Don't Understand

It's like I tell my hubby and others. So, you can go to the beach...and then what?
Instead, go to CBR or Poly AND have all of the parks, too.

So, you can go to the mountains....go to the WL AND have all of the parks, too.
So, you can go overseas.....go to Epcot AND have Africa at AK AND the other parks.

I have traveled to all of these places--overseas, mountains, beaches, but, honestly, with kids...how much will they enjoy these as compared to DW? The hassles of overseas travel with young kids...is the money worth it if they don't remember much or have the background knowledge to appreciate what they see? What about the food for young ones?
Right now, we do Disney. As the kids get older, we will try the other things........................and Disney. Ha!

I do admire those people who do travel with their young children overseas; it is just not for us right now.

We went summer of 03 with my IL's for my first time. Wife had been 2x before. Last April (2004) I decided to take my wife and DD's 7 and 5 to WDW for the 2nd time. We bought AP's b/c we were gonna be there for 8 dyas and that was the break even point at the time. So we then decided to go over the summer for about 10 dyas since we liked it and had the AP's already paid for. We ended up buying into DVC too this past summer LOL!

THen we decided to go for our first time over Xmas last month and loved it. Since our AP's are valid through April, we are going this Easter again. So 4 x in a year. OUr families and co-workers look at us in disbelief, but we dont care. We love WDW, our kids love WDW, and heck with all of them. There is always something new to do at WDW, and hopefully for the next 50 years (our DVC committment)

I totally understand. When my BF and I first started talking about making a trip to Florida last year, we were going to go to see his parents and do a few days at WDW too (per my request). BF had been to WDW 2 times before...each for 1 day only and they drove in for the day. When we originally booked, we were going to stay offsite and even though I was a bit disappointed, I was still excited to even be going. My last trip was in 1994 and the past 8 years with my exfiance...he NEVER would even think about going to WDW so I had given up hope that I'd ever visit again. In my numerous childhood trips with my parents, we had always stayed onsite so when my BF said we were going to stay offsite, I was a bit bummed.

Well, low and behold...he received a postcard last June for WDW and we decided that since the rate was so close to what we were paying offsite, and he knew I really wanted to stay onsite, he said go for it! (I LOVE HIM)...so, we did

We stayed 4 nights at POR and by the end of the first day there, he totally understood the difference between going there for the day and making a total vacation in and of itself at WDW. Now, I hear him telling people...it's just not the same if you dn't stay onsite...hahaha...he loves it and we began planning the next trip the day we got home from this one!

We really enjoy going to the parks, both WDW and DL, as much as we can. WDW is a long trip for us, travelwise, but worth the time to get there IMO. Yah, my extended family thinks we're nuts, but who cares. They go to sit on the beach every year, and I could say the same thing. The beach gets old ; ) At least with the parks, there is something different going on all the time. I love seeing my kids enjoying it so much, and I'm a big kid too, at heart. People think the food, etc. is expensive, but it is all a matter of perspective. Actually, it is no more expensive than going to any resort town.
