What Free ddp should be....

What a strange response to my question. Because I kind of thought your post wasn't nice either and you must be joking. I guess you werent.

Hey, I thought she was joking too.

This will be my third trip with free dining. I've also paid for it three times and will be paying for it again in Dec. With the room discounts and with having to buy all those one day park tickets I don't need (yes, I'm an AP holder that has the gall to still want the DDP:scared1: ), I would hate to think that all I'd be allowed was CS meals. No thanks! I don't care if I got the DDP free or if I paid for it, I'm giving up room discounts and buying park tickets I don't need, to get it and I deserve to be able to eat at TS just like everybody else. See you guys at Le Cellier in both Sept and Dec! Yeah, I was smart enough to call at 180 days out. I have ADRs for both my Sept and Dec trips and I call that being smart.

If the "free" DDP included CS only I wouldn't book it. It would be better for me to book a room, get an AP discount, and just use my DDE, which I'd use on TS meals I'd make ADRs for 180 days in advance, DDP or not.

Look at it this way.

With the "free" DDP, I'm paying $1,000 for the room and $250 for a park ticket. Without the "free" DDP I would've paid about $700 - $800 for the room, and I wouldn't of needed a park ticket. So the "savings" for me are really diminshed.

DBF and I could have gone with the "free dining" promotion, and even discussed it... but I said no because I did not want to go in September. I wanted to go in October..

On our trip... Dining is apx $780 for the 2 of us. We waited until we got a code before booking our trip... and our discount was apx. $600.

It is not a big difference in the discount for us... but we are just 2 people/no kids. I am glad we are going later.

Its simply a form of discount that disney offers. No need to treat those with "free dining" any differently than anyone else.
Nicely said.

As much as i'm hoping there's free dining in 2008 and get in on it, i think free ddp should just be for CS and no TS. I think that would be more fair for those paying oop or paying for the ddp and trying to get reservations. It still would be a good deal because it would be free!

I do not think you are understanding the reason for the FREE dining.

Disney is not doing this out of the kindness of the heart. They are doing it in an attemp to fill their resorts and parks during a very low time of year. I am doing free dining this year in less that 2 weeks. Would I be going the end of September if it was not for the free dining being offered as is. NO!!!

Every one has ideas of what to do to make free dining less busy. This is the point of free dining.:lmao:

This seemed silly to me too. We have been to Disney many times, but we always rent a house & just go & eat a few CS meals. The whole reason we stayed on property this time was to try the TS places for "free" and see if it was worth the money when we come back. Without the TS meals, there is no way Disney would have gotten resort money from us.

I sell for a living and we give away stuff free all the time. It IS a nice discount, but we make sure we're still making money on the deal. Disney is the same way.

And next year it will be even less "free" as there will be tips & appetizers to be paid for. More people may be taking the discount on the deluxe dining or discounts on moderate/deluxe rooms.
