What foods do you cook/prepare the "old fashioned" way?

I only use Cook and Serve pudding mix. I cook it on the stove. It tastes way better than instant mix or cooking it in the microwave - and tons better than pre-made stuff.

What do you cook "the old fashioned way"? :)

I will only eat homemade macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately my kids only like the kind out of the box!

I love cook and serve pudding...you can't get that yummy skin with the instant stuff (the sound you now hear is my husband gagging).

I also prefer the old fashioned rolled oats to the instant or cooks in 1 minute style oatmeal. I may try some of the even longer cooking stuff this winter.

Frozen pizza. Yep, it's strictly the oven kind for me. None of that new-fangled microwave stuff! :rotfl2:

That skin rocks! I only wish you could somehow make a whole dish of "skin only" pudding - wouldn't that be awesome?!!!

Absolutely! You have to cook it in the oven or it's pretty much like eating a sponge.

I used to make homemade pasta occasionally. Yep, that means make the dough and all. I occasionally make crackers with my grandma.

Cookies, cakes, spaghetti sauce, lasagna, mac & cheese, gravy, biscuits, ....hmmm...I'm sure there are lots more.
I love to cook and especially bake.

I would love to be a dinner guest at your house Nancy! :)

mashed potatoes- I would die before I let a box of instant ones in my house! Chicken soup, cookies, various quick breads.....

popcorn. Yes, I use a pot and a lid and some oil in the pan. No microwave stuff for me!

Come on over ::yes::

We're having jerk chicken pasta tonight.
I try to do at least 4-5 new recipes a week.

Jeez, thanks to you guys I now want to make homemade pasta. Maybe someday this winter when its cold and snowing and we are stuck at home, I will make it.

All soup from scratch (well, except for clam chowder...don't have time for that any more!), mashed potatoes, cookies, pie, and spaghetti sauce. I'm kinda funny about those things...must be homemade...!

bread (make it ever other day in cooler months, but buy in the summertime); yogurt, spaghetti sauce; mashed potatoes, "french" fries; mac n cheese; lots of stuff. We raise our own chickens for meat and eggs, too.

I love bread baking, especially when I'm stressed out. I don't always like doing the other stuff, but we really prefer knowing where our food comes from rather than some factory someplace.
