What flooring do you have in your kitchen?

Ours is in serious need of updating and has Vinyl flooring that the previous owners put down.

We have hardwood flooring in our kitchen... We have a very open concept on the first floor and it is carried everywhere but the bathrooms.

I have laminite wood flooring and have loved it. I was reluctant to put it in the kitchen but did anyway and couldn't be happier with how it has done. Still looks brand new.

With our new house, we are doing hardwood. I just don'tthink I'd want to stand and cook, was dishes etc. on tile. I'm on my feet all day everyday though so I am very aware of what I'm standing on. ;)

Good luck!!!

Hardwood. Love it. Water-based acrylic finish which wears like iron and is easy to keep clean.

old, ulgy crappy vinyl.
Eventually we are going to lay tile from the front door to the kitchen (it all flow together)... We want a slate coloring...

We've got a slate-look Wilsonart laminate. It's only been down for a year, but so far, I adore it. We have a dog, and it's completely scratch resistant. We have hardwood in other rooms that she's scratched. It's super easy to clean and looks great all the time.

Ideally, I'd have tile because I love everything about tile. But it was a DIY kitchen remodel, and we had a summer to get it done. Dh does a great job setting tile, but it just would have taken too long.

Old Chicago brick sealed with marine polyurethane. Anything that falls on it breaks, but it's been great with two boys.

I previously had hardwood, mostly loved it and now I have porcelain tile. I really love it so far. It's easy to keep clean and very durable

Ceramic tile. I love it. Easy to keep clean and shiny. Just don't break a plate on it

Glad to see your post about the porcelain tile in the kitchen. That's what I am thinking of getting but was afraid it might be slippery. Happy to read that you like yours.

Karen :)

I have porcelain tile in my kitchen and we love it- very easy to keep clean, you don't have to worry about water damage if you accidental have a spill--things break when they hit the floor but its really worth it, not slippery and looks GREAT with granite! Our backsplash is also porcelain.

Porcelain tile here too in mixed muted colors of black, brown, yellow, red - it kind of looks like slate & has black grout. LOVE IT! Never looks dirty & still looks brand new after 8 years! I would post a picture but am not sure how to.

Antique hardwood from rail cars. Three inches thick, can't hurt it.

I have sheet vinyl. It was put in in two pieces, and the seam is separating, so it has been 'repaired' with a big line of duct tape across the whole kitchen. So lovely:lmao:

I'm not doing anything else to fix it until I have enough money to renovate the whole darn room! When I do, I want tile.

HArdwood - Brazilian Cherry

The stuff is harder than a bankers heart and looks great.

BTW, just a cleaning tip for those of us with hardwood floors....Use vinegar and water instead of anything you can buy commercialy. It does an amazing job of cleaning the floor, plus it leaves ZERO streaks.

Vinyl...the worst! I hate this stuff. I really miss the 18" tiles I had in FL. Yup, ripped out all the carpeting and had tile put in. For FL, it's the best! I'm not even sure I'd like wood floors. But with chilly winters in VA, I guess tiling the entire first floor isn't practical. But I would like it in the kitchen!
