I have been looking at the menus and I know what foods I would like to try but I have no idea about the wines. Any recommendations? I prefer white wines over red and a little on the sweet side.

Thanks!
Amy

Try the Ice Wine in Canada. Its white and very sweet as the grapes are frozen when picked and the sugars become very concentrated. A little goes a long way.

If you want them a little less sweet and a little less expensive than the ice wine, try the Chateau des Charmes Riesling in Canada (its photo is below) and the Two Princes Riesling at the German Oktoberfest.

Ice wine is very sweet indeed, but enjoyable all the same!
Rieslings are a good choice if looking for a wine that's just a bit on the sweet side. I'm not sure what other types of wine will be at the Festival - if you can find it, I've also found Gewurztraminer just a bit on the sweet side (can also check Canada for this although other countries do produce it).

There is another thread going right now about Rosa Regale. It is a red sparkling wine that is very yummy. I just tried it for the first time and am hooked. It's very light with a hint of raspberries. I'm not sure which pavillion it's available at but hopefully someone else can provide that info.

The Rosa Regale is at the champange cart in France, I think. And it is very good with chocolate!

Banfi Rosa Regale is also available in the Italian wine shop. It's delicious. Don't miss it if you like wines that are a little on the sweet side. I agree -- have it with some chocolate!

The two princes riesling in Germany's booth is outstanding.

The white wine at turkey's booth very good also.

Banfi Rosa Regale is always a favorite, we buy it by the case, lol.

The Mango wine at Florida's booth is very good.

Hi there,

Before I even read the posts before mine, my brain was screaming ICEWINE! And, I checked and it is at the Canadian Pavilion. The two wineries (Chateau des Charmes and Inniskillin) feature in "Canada" are about 10 minutes from my home... and even having it all of the time... it is well worth the taste test. To give you a general idea, a bottle of the icewine generally runs between $60-$80 here... and that is right off the winemakers shelf. To be considered icewine, the grapes have to be picked in the middle of the night (around 1 pm) after the weather has reached a certain cold temperature for 3 nights in a row. It is amazing to see... I believe it originated in Germany and now is only made in Germany and Canada 'cause it is hard to grow grapes in climates that turn cold!

If you haven't tried it before, definitely try it now!!!
