What exactly is "pixie dust"?

I made a call to WDW tonight to upgrade our park passes. Got to chatting with the lovely lady on the other end of the line about our plans, kids, etc. She told me she noted some things in our reservation (celebrations) and just before we hung up, she said:

"I really hope your family has a wonderful time celebrating next week. I've sprinkled a little extra pixie dust on your stay".

I was like, "oh, thank you", but I have no idea what she meant. Anyone here know?

Thanks!

The use of "pixie dust" comes from Peter Pan-- in order for the kids to fly they need "faith, trust, and pixie dust" which comes from Tinkerbell and is sprinkled on the children. So if someone says they are sending you pixie dust they are sending good thoughts that something special happens (or good luck). In your example as was already said it sounds like she has noted your celebrations and any other information on your reservation so that may increase the chances of something special happening.

At this point I don't think I would get too excited about it though. When they note celebrations on your reservation then there is a wide range of things that could happen from only getting a special pin at check in, to a free cupcake at dinner, a balloon or note left in your room, or a full upgrade to deluxe Concierge accommodations. I don't know that there is really much the person that takes the reservations on the phone can actually do, other than just put the celebration information on your reservation. It would be up to the actual locations to do something special or not, and they are not required to.

I am not trying to be discouraging, but just realistic. Sometimes people read here and see stories of great things happening to other guests and then are very disappointed when something wonderful doesn't happen to them. After months of building up in their minds all the spectacular things that could happen they feel their trip is ruined when it doesn't happen to them.

No matter what happens, most all Disney trips are filled with pixie dust because the magic of Disney is all around. Have a great trip! :)

Pixie Dust comes from within... YOU make the magic... (In my opinion the CM did you a disservice... she has now set an expectation that something "special" will happen when that may or may not be the case, and it could cause disappointment..

Go and enjoy your vacation.. and remember that Pixie Dust is just as magnetic as it is magic. the more you spread around, the more will come to you..
