Specifically in the kitchen of a 1 bedroom? How many plates, bowls, glasses, forks, knives spoons...cooking utensils? Pots/pans? Mixing bowls? cookie sheets, etc etc...

Dishwasher detergent? Dish washing liquid? Paper towels?

What would I need to bring from home (aside from salt/pepper/spices)?

Toilet paper? Do they replenish or I need my own?

We are planning on constructing a large tote to haul the necessities on each trip but need to know what to begin stocking up with.

Have you considered an Owners Locker? Great service, reasonable price, you buy a tote and they store it for you, deliver it and pick it up. There used to be a discount link here on the DIS and the DVC website has a discount link.

We have a car and drive to Florida so no need to pay for the service when we can bring our tote with us.

At both Kidani and BLT, all 1BR villas should have place settings for 8. There is a reasonable selection of cooking utensils and if there is something else you might need you can always call Housekeeping to see if they can provide it. Provided are cooking pots/pans and mixing bowls, pitcher, toaster, can opener (manual), corkscrew, blender, etc..

No food products are supplied except for starter supplies of coffee. Dishwasher detergent, paper towels and toilet paper is provided and replenished as needed. A starter supply of laundry detergent is provided and additional may be purchased at the resort store. These supplies are checked and replenished during scheduled mousekeeping service, but if supplies run low in between you'll need to call. You will need to bring salt/pepper/spices and any food/drink items you want to use.

During scheduled mousekeeping service, they will remove trash and replace towels for the Trash/Tidy and replace bed linens and vacuum during full clean. These scheduled services alternate every 4 days depending on the length of your stay - count arrival day as Day 1. You will not have a full clean unless staying 8 days or longer - the full clean would be on Day 4. Additional service may be purchased and arranged at your convenience thru Housekeeping.

Enjoy! :)

We have a car, sometimes drive to WDW from Raleigh, but it sure saves on packing to have an OL--in fact we have two OLs--packing for us is now cut down basically to clothes and medications.

We don't mind. Plenty of room in the vehicle and I am a bit ocd with packing.

J'accord. I agree OL is a great service.

We are staying at the Treehouse Villa's in a couple of weeks. I just saw that we have to bring salt and pepper. I know we also need to bring coffee but what about filters? If so are they flat bottom or the cone kind?

You will get a couple and restock on day 4 of your stay. You will need the flat bottom Mr Coffee type, either bring some with you or you can buy them in the resort store.

In case someone forgets to bring along.
You can pick-up salt and pepper packets at any QS restaurant.

My villa usually contains a bunch of tired people begging the others to go refill their mugs with something cold to drink.

Listed below are some kitchen items that I bring along to every trip where we stay in a villa:
* A wooden spoon (to stir things in pans while they are cooking on the stove)
* 1-2 dishclothes (they only give you a small sponge in the kitchen. I don't like to use bathroom washclothes in the kitchen!)
* Dishwasher tabs (I just pop some in a ziploc back from home. I don't like dealing with the powdered stuff)
* Laundry tabs and fabric softener sheets (Same as above)
* Coffee filters and extra ground coffee (We like 1/2 caff so we bring a small canister of it)
* Tin foil (to cover left overs stored in bowls and to line baking sheets)
* Assorted zip lock bags
* An extra glass 9 by 13 baking dish. (They have one, but we like to make casseroles and need two)
* Magnets for the refrigerator/Post it sticky notes. We post our "schedule" for the week and other important papers that we want to keep track of.
* On our most recent trip we had to call for pot holders as there were none in the room. They brought two of them right up, but acted like they aren't normally supplied. Maybe this has changed recently?

We do a fair amount of cooking in the unit in order to save money, time, and eat a bit healthier. Since we go to WDW annually, we typically make the about the same meals each year and know what to take from home, what to purchase at the on site store, and what to order from Garden Grocer.

Have a great trip!
