What exactly is a Tervis mug?

What is this exactly? If you think it's better than a WDW resort mug, why? How many oz is it? TYIA!!! Cheers!

Tervis tumblers come in many sizes. I don't waste my time with anything smaller than 24 oz. They're so well insulated and don't really sweat. Very good quality. Go look at tervis.com to see. Better quality and bigger than a WDW resort mug IMO. But then I haven't bought a WDW mug in prob'ly 10 years now. Not since they stopped being resort specific.

Well Tervis Mugs are different than resort mugs. They don't have the chip in them that allow you to activate the soda machines. They come with a warranty which is pretty nice, but I sometimes spill drinking it due to the way the mouthpiece is.

I know they're kind of an investment on the front end but we use ours at home and have taken them on so many cruises now. They also make a great gift (if you have some gift events prior to your cruise). If everyone has their own design there's no confusing who's is which.

We have a collection of Tervis tumblers (not just Disney) - they're good for hot or cold drinks and I love that they don't sweat so no need for coasters. They sell a DCL-branded Tervis mugs in the gift shops on board.

missed your last post - Bed Bath and Beyond always has them. They should be readily available on board. They're made in Florida so should be lots other places to purchase.

I'm pretty sure there is more than 3 designs on board. They have them spread out. Some by Aqueduct, some done in the shops etc.

Lots of Hallmark stores carry them too in addition to Bed Bath and Beyond. most of my Disney Tervis have come from Hallmark. I use them constantly at home. For hot and cold. They are especially handy for keeping my kitties from trying to drink milk out of my cup! Gotta love those lids!

They do not sell out on the ships, unless it's something unique like the Alaskan sailings.

Yes, I bought it in Dec 2014. It's the 16oz version and I think it was around $15-20.

I also got the Duff hoodie which has a built-in coozie in the pouch and comes with a bottle opener that is attached to a cord, this was around $50.

They do have some Tervis mugs at resorts; I have a Grand Floridian one, and have seen them at SSR and OKW at least. If you want to check them out in person ahead of time, go to a Bed Bath and Beyond. While you're there, if you like them, buy some handles for big and small. On the other thread just linked to you might see the info that SOME sunscreen CAN ruin the mugs, so having a handle is a great idea. And get some straws, too.

They do not sell out on the ships

NOT my experience! On 2 out of 4 Dream cruises they ran out of the one I wanted on the FIRST night. Even as recently as January.

To make sure that doesn't happen to you, look at them the first night of shopping and buy what you think you want! You can always return it, but IF the ship sells out, you can't go back and buy it later on.

Bought mine over a year ago. 16 oz. At the Simpsons store (and I think at one of the main stores).
