What EXACTLY is a bouncback???

I've seen alot of DISers refer to a bouncback trip they booked. What exactly is it? How do you book it and when? Do you save money that way? laughing:I know it's WDW and highly unlikely tho) Any info is appreciated.

An offer you receive while staying at your current on site resort. For instance, on our trip this past August, we had a flyer in the room that offered us free dining on our next trip, within certain dates, if we booked before our current stay ended. I have seen different types on different trips. Anything from free dining, to 30-40% off a room.

We booked for next August. Figuring the $200 is refundable, and we can always rebook should a better offer come along in the spring.

The bouncebacks mirror the general public deals for the most part, might vary by dates or resorts a bit. Basically, you are able to lock in the deal right now (during your stay) and pretty much get the availability you want, rather than waiting for the deal to be announced to the public months from now.

So the deal or discount really isn't any better, you just get the first jump on it. And if for some reason Disney does not offer that deal to the public months from now, you are already locked in for it.

I really don't know if staying on DVC points would qualify you for a bounceback deal, I am assuming not, since you really aren't "paying" Disney for your room. A DVC owner would probably be able to answer that one.

Is the deposit usually for one nights lodging?Or is it a $200 deposit?

Since most, or all bouncebacks are packages, the deposit is $200.

A bounceback is basically Disney getting you to commit to another trip then and there while you are still on property. Not sure if they find more people are willing to agree to a second trip while still enjoying the first one, but I would think so. It seems to me to be that way since its more of an impulse decision, instead of something that is thought out. As PP's have said, for the most part the discounts are similar, if not the same to what eventually gets offered to the public down the road, they just give you first whack at them.
