What exactly do you do at Discovery Cove?

I'd like to know if you have to swim at Discovery Cove..and basically..what else do you do there besides swim with dolphins? Just want to see if it'll be worth the price.

If you aren't going to swim, then it is definitely not worth the money. There are lounge chairs to relax in on the beaches. There is sand on the beaches for the kids to play in. There is a bird aviary. Everything else is swimming. There is the swimming with the dolphins (which you know), snorkeling with fish, a smaller area with stingrays and then a pool that has no fish that has a "river" that goes through the bird aviary and around the park and then back to the pool.

I hope this helps a little.

My dh doesn't know how to swim..I guess it won't be worth it to go.

The life vests that you all are required to wear are floatation style. You stay above water very easily. There is a non fish pool to get used to the vest and the snorkle. I would think this is a great place to start out. I would skip the dolphin swim because that is in deep water. He could easily stand in the ray pool. and even some of the salt water snorkle area is shallow.
The Bird area is walk through and actually pretty nice. I guess it all depends on how daring he is willing to be. My DS was not a strong swimmer when we went and he did fine the entire time.

keep in mind that your DC tickets include 7 days free at Seaworld also :cheer2:

And a free lunch, parking, locker and great shower amenities!

HI we have just come back from 10 days in Orlando - we had booked the dolphin swim @ discovery cove and WOW. The place is pretty big and limited to 1000 guests per day - so no overcrowding AT ALL.

My DD was 7 and she can just swim but is not comfortable out of her depth so we were a tad concerned about the dolphin swim. You spend about 30 mins with the dolphin and the majority of that time is in shallow water - my DD could stand up fine and interact with "CJ". The swim itself is in deeper water.....dd did not have a life jacket on but me & DH swam out with her and we trod water....the trainer took millie and showed her how to hold onto "CJ" - she loved it!! They do offer to do the dolphin pull in shallower water if you prefer but this won't be as long.

The rest of the day is paradise - we are from the UK so are not used to having such lovely sunny days!!! so we were in sheer bliss. There is a huge river, beachy area that you can just laze about in - this is all pretty shallow and DD could touch the bottom in nearly all the areas here...this lagoon goes around the back, 8ft deep here, and through waterfalls into the avary - you can swim through this. You can also walk through the avairy which is quite small but very pretty!

In the middle of the lagoon are 2 other pools - the tropical reef pool - which is quite a fair size and VERY deep in places, altough you can stand in this near the "shoreline" and the fish swim right by you -you can swim with floatation devices and snorkels and spend ages looking at the vast amount of fish and rays - DD didn;t want to do this so DH & I took turns to go in. They also have a smaller ray pool which is shallow enough to stand in

WE loved this day - took things at our own pace and very relaxing! The water in the lagoons is SOOOOO warm!!

I'm not really into swimming and did wonder what on earth we'd do all day! I was concerned we might get a bit bored, considering our dolphin was was at 9am - but come the end of the day we so did not want to leave!!

Yes, it's lots of $$ but we thoroughly enjoyed this - DH preferred swimming with the fish over the Dolphin swim!! The buffet lunch incl. in the price was pretty nice too.
