What exactly DID you do at Disney? May 2011 TR (TR link pg 44)

Diane, I'm so happy you got some "alone" time and were able to shop. I have those kitchen towels and measuring spoons. :thumbsup2

I think your plan to wait and see if Caitlin changes here mind about her "love of Disney and princesses" is a phase or not is a good one. However, I wouldn't wait too long because I don't know how full things are. If you don't go, I would definitely plan it so that you are there for the MNSSHP next October -- it is a great time.

I was just looking through some trip reports and happened on yours, (well the last few pages of it at least).

Sorry to hear that your husband does not enjoy Disney as much as you and your daughter seem to. I have the same situation with my wife. I love Disney and her not so much. In fact after our upcoming Aug trip she says she doesn't want to go back for 5yrs.:scared1:

Now I have to admit, Aug will make 3 trips in the last 2 yrs. My 4yr old daughter loves it however and I love being able to take her somewhere she loves so much. Ok ill also admit it, if I could live in EPCOT I would. :lmao:.

I think I saw in your report that you would like to see either Halloween or Christmas decorations one time? Well if it is the decorations you want to see and money is part of why you havn't done it well we went the first week of Jan (2-8 i think) this year and all the decorations were still up. There were no holiday events or shows (those ended Jan 1st i think) but they were still playing Christmas music and the crowds and costs were much lower than I am sure they were the weeks before.

Anyway I hope you are able to come to an agreement for vacations times that work for your whole family.

That is too bad your husband did not enjoy the Nemo show. Yes, it is just a repetition of the plot of the movie but it is presented in such a special way! I thought it was such a treat! I am sorry it went sour from there.

At least you got to go to Pop Century after that and enjoy a nice lunch!

I was also very surprised that WPE was closed. I am certain that it was not announced anywhere otherwise we would have known.

I always buy those peta chips at Costco near my house and we love them! The small package with the hummus make such a wonderful snack. Yummy!

I hope it works out for you to go in October. A mother/daughter trip must be a lot of fun too!

Q

:laughing:You are no help!

When are you doing the Halloween party and Park Fare?

I just checked our flight prices and they dropped today to $89 each way. I am considering just booking them and not mentioning it to DH.:rolleyes1

We could always use them for a weekend getaway if Disney falls through.

$89 airfare?!?! It's a SIGN! You must go!

(Devil on the shoulder again...)

Right now we have planned to go to the Halloween party on Tuesday the 25th, but they also have one on Sunday. I have our 1900 Park Fare for before the party at 5:10pm. I might have to re-think this though, I don't know what would work out better. We have a Universal day planned too. I've heard that F&W can get mobbed with the local people on the weekend, so it may be better to do the party on Sunday and visit Epcot on Tuesday instead. Flight prices worked out way better if we left Saturday and came home Wednesday.

Heads up, I switched our plans and reservations a bit. We now have an 8pm 1900 Park Fare reservation for Sat. The 22nd, and we are going to Mnsshp on Sunday the 23rd.

Wow, your AK day sounds a bit like one of our park days!! I still try to put that day out of my memory! My DH hates anything musical...I tricked him into FOTLK!! :rolleyes1

Love your purchases!! Cute kitchen stuff! And I hope the October trip pans out! I am pushing for an October trip for my birthday in 2012! October is a great time to go!!

Ok, ya'll have me wanting to do a mommy daughter trip in Oct!:rotfl2: Actually, I am thinking about taking my dd in March during Spring Break.;) But Oct would be fabulous!...the weather and Halloween party. I think you should go and enjoy yourselves!!

It looks like Oct. is a go:cool1: I am so excited to see all the Halloween decorations.

I am hoping they release a discount for Oct. soon, but I am going to probably just book Pop sometime this week with or without a discount.

Thanks for joining. I wish DH was a bit more into Disney. I really thought once we took our DD he would be a bit more excited to go back, but he just isn't giving in to the magic:confused3

Going in Jan sounds like a great idea. I really want to do the Halloween stuff while DD is young, the xmas stuff can wait a few years. Jan. sounds like a good idea, but I am afraid of how cold it will be in Dec/ Jan. I always see people wearing gloves and jackets and it looks wrong.

October is looking better and better:)

WPE better be open in Oct, I can't wait to try it.

I am so excited that you moved your trip. I picked this weekend b/c Caitlin's school has teacher conference that week and will half days. I am hoping she won't miss to much material. Usually they don't do too much on half days.

We are going to do the party on the 23rd too. We are only going for 3 nights so it would have to be either the 21st or 23. I am hoping Sun. will be be better than Friday crowds wise.

We are most likely going to do Park Fare on the 22nd too but most likely around 6 or 7. Which night are you doing the carriage ride?

Sunday will be an open morning before MNSSHP and we will most likely spend the day at the pool at Pop. We better meet this time if we actually make it down there.

I don't know what I was thinking making DH watch Nemo. I should have known better. I should have vetoed Caitlins choice and gone to LK. I think Nemo was too long.

I love my kitchen stuff. DH doesn't notice it and it lets me Disney the house up a bit.

DO IT!!!

I am so excited to be going in Oct. I would have like to go early in the month but the weekend we picked is better school wise for DD and the airfare was cheaper.

Glad you some quiet alone time!

I loved my quiet time, but I can only take so much. As much as they whine I love them being there with me. I have no idea if I could ever do a solo trip. I think I would get lonely very easily.

What time did you go by the 80's pool at POP? We seemed to spend every afternoon swimming since my DH and DS6 also wanted to leave the parks early. We also tried to hit Wolfgang puck that night and saw that it was closed... This was after trying to find a parking space for 20 minutes. :lmao: The best part is I sat right outside the restaurant a couple days before and didn't even notice.

We were probably around the pool around 2ish. There were only a couple people in the 80's pool but I didn't get close enough to see anyone. I can't wait until we get to swim in that pool.

I couldn't believe it was closed. I was so disappointed. I wonder how long it was closed for.

I just had this for lunch a couple of days ago. I always have to attack it in two parts. I save part of the chicken and most of the bread to make a mini-sandwich about an hour later.

Glad you guys liked our Pop. :hippie:

We were very lucky this time at AK, as we got to see a tiger up and growling. It was very cool to watch.

Disney kitchen stuff is fun. :goodvibes

Congratulations on the October trip! :cool1:
I think we'll just miss you. We'll be there the 15th through 19th.

It sounds like you had some really nice alone time for shopping. Think I might have to bargain some of that for myself whenever we get back to WDW.

As for your "next trip" conundrum: So, if you go in Oct of this year, do you still get to go in 2012 also? Or is it a one or the other type deal? If it's a one or the other type deal, I'd choose whichever one allowed me more time at WDW.

Hope it all works out for you!!!

Well, after reading through the past couple of pages I noticed your shiny new ticker in there in your signature! Awesome! :woohoo: I am so super excited for you. :dance3: See...three dancing heads excited! :rotfl: But I really think you deserve this trip and that it will be a wonderful, memorable experience for you and Caitlin.

Yep, we crossed about 1 thing off my to do list. I can't wait to go back and actually get some stuff done. I think I learned a lot on this trip and have a feeling whenever we go back it will go a bit better, even if it means DH and DD hit a waterpark while I go to Epcot.

I feel rather similarly about our upcoming trip. And truly, there's nothing wrong with splitting up sometimes while you're there. Although, ironically, something about leaving Max at the kids' club while we hit California Grill DOES bother me. Yet, leaving him behind while I go solo at MK in the wee hours? No problem! :confused3 Still debating that, actually! :rotfl:

I am so excited at the prospect of leaving the boys at the resort to chill while I stroll on over to EPCOT to take pictures and do some shopping! I have a feeling my bags are going to be heavy on the souvenirs this time, as I know we won't be back for awhile!

And you got some super cool kitchen stuff. I'm definitely going to be on the look-out for some of that, myself!

We might have been there around 2:00 or just showing up. The pool was never busy over there, so nice and relaxing. I was sad the the Goofy pop jets were not working.

I noticed yesterday that I would only be missing you by a dew days. Are you sure you don't want to extend a few days? We will be arriving on the 21st.

I thought Pop was so adorable and fun. I can't wait to try it out. I am glad we are staying there this time, b/c I will want to try the new Animation resort when that opens.

Disney kitchen stuff is the perfect way to get in some Disney stuff without DH noticing. He doesn't spend much time in the kitchen.

If we go in Oct. 2011, 2012 is out but either one would just be a weekend trip so I would rather just go this year. DH and I havent actually discussed when we would go back but I am thinking maybe Nov. 2013, Feb 2013 or Oct 2014 (personally I would like to get AP's and do them all but I doubt that will happen) I am thinking we will most likely stick to local places in 2012 and use 2013 for wherever DH wants to go. Who knows?

Isn't my new ticker just beautiful:love:

I am so excited to spend time with Caitlin and I really hope the trip goes well. I am a bit nervous b/c I have never been alone with her to this extent before plus I have never really traveled much on my own before. I have taken a plane by myself but always had someone waiting for me on the other end and dropping me off. I am a bit worried about figuring it all out with a 6 year old in tow.

We won't be back for a bit after this trip but I don't think I will mind. I have really been pushing b/c I want to do the Halloween party while Caitlin is young, the other stuff I can wait a few years.

I would be annoyed that the pop jets aren't working if I had a toddler. Kids always looked like they enjoyed them so much.

Which section did you stay in? We only checked out the left side of the resort towards the 80/90s. I am thinking of either requesting upper floor 80s or just upper floor leaving the rest to chance. I plan on booking a standard room

We were in the 90's, bottom floor facing the 70's building. It was a very short walk to the pool. I was a little bummed at first but it was very quiet, close to everything.

I'm so excited your DH agreed to the October trip!!! We have a preffered room booked which I think puts us in the 60's, but to be honest I'd rather either be in the 70's or the back side of the 60's by the Mowgli/Balloo statues. I need to call and request that. I want to be near the Classic Hall, but I don't want to face the Hippy Dippy Pool.

We will get to Orlando at 4:30 10/22. I think I have our plans nailed down. We weren't going to go to the AK this time because it's the one park that I find kind of expendable, but we were able to get a Tusker House ressie for 8:30 Sunday morning, so that is where we will be. We'll probably just stay there long enough to ride the Safari and Everest and I am demanding to see FOTLK because it's the one thing we just can't seem to get to, and I REALLY want to see it. We'll come back to the Pop to swim for a few hours and then head on over to the party. I'd like to get there early enough to eat at Columbia Harbor House, which closes at like 6pm on party nights.

Yes, it is! :goodvibes After all the reading on the Dis, I've pondered what a Max and Mom trip would be like. Definitely couldn't handle it now, that's for sure, but in a couple years...maybe?

Will you fly out of Hartford? Flying out of a small airport and using Magical Express helps, too. I love just handing my luggage over, curb-side, and then not dealing with it again until I'm in my room!

Just a little update-

That’s right; we have a brand new ticker! I have absolutely no idea how I managed to get DH to agree. He has been going back and forth between saying yes and no for at last two weeks. Finally on Thursday I asked again and he said “Fine, just go.” I had checked out flight prices and they happened to drop down that day. I told him if he really meant it he had to agree right now b/c the airline tickets were probably the cheapest they were going to get. He said book them. Then, he left to go to blockbuster. He didn’t have to tell me twice, I don’t even think he made it to the stop sign on our street before I was the proud owner of some Southwest airline tickets.

We will only be going for a quick weekend which is totally fine since the whole reason behind this trip is to see the Halloween decorations and do MNSSHP. We are leaving at 630 am on Oct. 21 and coming home early Oct 24. We will arrive by noon on Friday so I am looking at it like we really have 3 days.

I have not told Caitlin that I booked yet. We have been talking and planning a hypothetical trip but I am not telling her quite yet. I am really trying to keep the Disney talk to a minimum around DH and I know once she knows we are going she will bring it up more.

After this trip we will not be back until at least 2013 which is really fine. I have no problem waiting now that we will have attended the Halloween party. That is the one thing I really think Caitlin will enjoy more at her age rather than waiting a few years. The xmas stuff can wait until she is older.
