What exactly DID you do at Disney? May 2011 TR (TR link pg 44)

Great PP pics! I love the up close one of Caitlin with her minnie ears on. And the one of her looking surprised at Tink in her hands. And the one of her with Cinderella...well ok, they are fabulous!

Speaking of Cinderella, you guys had a really awesome one. She fits the part perfectly (look wise).

We also didn't use photopass that much this trip; not like we have in the past. Obviously time in the park is directly related to the number of PP pics you get taken, and with the amount of time we spent at the pool and NOT at the park...well you can imagine how few pics we got. :headache: It's a bummer, so I can relate.

I LOVE the family picture in front of the castle. You all look so fresh and nice. I always look exhausted and frumpy.

I am terrible about stopping for Photopass photographers, but I keep practicing and am getting a little better. ;)

great photopass pictures!

oh, by the way, i have quite a few walking photos too. :goodvibes

Love the Photopass pics. Caitlin is so super cute. Blue teeth? Too funny! I love the on where she's looking down. And the pics of all three of you in front of the castle are great, too!

Before breakfast DH had asked about the plan for today. When planning our MK day I wasn’t sure if it was better to hit MK in the morning, stay until dinner, or take a mid day break and come back for dinner. I ended up booking dinner at 3:15 b/c I figured the buffet would be less picked over and fresh, plus I was sure we could make it until at least 3 right? CP wasn’t on my must do list so I gave DH and DD the options of midday break and getting room service that night or staying and going to CP. They both thought a midday break sounded good. Of course they did.

After our breakfast we headed straight for Fantasyland. DH wanted to hit the mountains but I told him the lines would just get worse in Fantasyland as the day went on.
DisneyMay2011onSony236.jpg

The lines for most rides weren’t too long. We grabbed fast passes for Peter Pan and headed to Snow White. No one else really wanted to ride it, but since it is closing soon I insisted we needed to do it.

After Snow White we weren’t sure what to do. The lines at Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo were too long for DH and DD. Dumbo might have been over 30 and Winnie the Pooh was about 45. DH headed off to find a bathroom while Caitlin and I rode its A Small World. This was her first time on there since it was closed during our trip last year. She seemed to like it. I know it’s a classic but I think the dolls are a bit creepy. I have read Kingdom Keepers and the whole time imagined the dolls coming to live and attacking us.
DisneyMay2011onSony237.jpg

After IASW we headed over to watch Philharmagic. Caitlin and I love this show.

Finally it was time for Peter Pan.
DisneyMay2011onSony240.jpg

After Peter Pan we checked the wait for Winnie the Pooh and it was still pretty long. I wanted to grab fastpasses but for some reason that I don’t remember I didn’t. Caitlin still wanted to ride Dumbo and the carousel. She actually agreed to wait in the Dumbo line but I think DH convinced her we she move on out of Fantasyland.

Next up was Liberty Square. We headed straight for Haunted Mansion, which is one of my favorites. Caitlin did not want to ride this but I bribed her and told her she could pick out any lollipop she wanted when we were done.

We went through the new queue which was okay. I was expecting a bit more. Maybe since the line was moving pretty quickly and we didn’t really have to stop we missed something? We were in the mansion and the stretching room pretty quickly. We got out of the room and onto the loading dock that was packed with people. I looked over and the cars weren’t moving. We all waited, packed in like sardines for awhile for it to restart. I thought about just leaving but then we would have had to push our way through everyone to get out. Finally, it started again and we got on quickly.
Caitlin actually seemed to enjoy it. She was scared to ride it and once she was on she realized it wasn’t scary. We all liked the new hitchhiking ghost at the end.

Now what? Caitlin had watched the Disney planning DVD and seemed very interested in seeing HOP since she has been learning all about presidents this year. Once we were there she didn’t want to go. By this time DH wanted to hit the mountains.

We headed towards Frontier land. We the walkway on the side that looks like a bridge and there was a family ahead of use. They had a giant stroller, tons of bags and balloons. They were walking very slowly and taking up the whole path. I kept my distance and walked along at the slow pace. Once on the path there isn’t a way to get back to the main walkway. There was another couple behind us and they pushed their way past the family. I heard the women comment about how rude the couple was. I guess taking up the entire walkway and walking at a snail’s pace isn’t rude?

We checked out the wait times for the 2 mountains. Big Thunder had a short wait and Splash Mountain had a long wait. I told DH to wait while I grabbed fast passes for Splash. When I came back he asked which one had a longer wait. As though I had no idea what I was doing when picking which one to wait for and which one to get the fast pass for. Really? Well, I know how much you love waiting in line so I grabbed a fast pass for the ride with a 5 minute wait and figured we could ride it after waiting in stand by for the ride with an hour wait. Seriously, what does he think I do on these boards all day?

Anyway… There was a very short wait for Big Thunder Mountain and we got on quickly. Caitlin really liked this ride.

We didn’t have much time before we could use our fast pass for Splash Mountain, which is another one of my favorites.

I was trying to take a bunch of pictures of the ride but Caitlin kept telling me to stop. I was just happy I got her to agree to ride with me instead of DH so I figured I would just enjoy the moment.

After Splash Mountain it was around lunch time so Caitlin and I decided to split some popcorn.
DisneyMay2011onSony265.jpg

We spent a good amount of time just hanging out and thinking about what to do next. Caitlin didn’t want to walk very far so we couldn’t go back to Fantasyland or Tomorrowland. I thought about just canceling CP and going back to the hotel, but I decided we would stay and have dinner at CP.

After our break we headed to Main Street to do some shopping. I still owed Caitlin a lollipop and I had seen a shirt in a trip report that I really wanted. We headed towards the Emporium. Caitlin and DH went off to handle Caitlin’s shopping needs and I looked for my shirt. I couldn’t find the one I wanted anywhere. We spent a good amount of time shopping and then headed over to check out. The lady checking us out took forever. It seemed as though she had absolutely no idea what she was doing or had never seen a cash register before. I always seem to pick these people which drives DH insane. I always pick the line that never moves or we end up having a bunch of people ahead of us with issues.

We found some benches in the shade where Caitlin could enjoy a rest and lollipop. I sat down for a bit but after about 10 minutes I headed to Main Street Confectionary.

I ended up getting another chocolate covered pretzel rod. It was okay but not as good as the one from the caramel shop. I think I only ate about half of it since it was covered in nuts and I wanted to save my appetite for CP.

It was around 2 by now and I was getting bored sitting on a bench. We decided to head back over to Fantasyland. We stopped by the castle to get some Photopass pictures (the lovely blue teeth ones) and headed past the castle. Winnie the Pooh was still about 45. We were about to head over to the carousel but Caitlin saw the tea cups and needed to ride them. DH hates spinning rides so he sat this one out. He started to mention that he was hungry. What could he eat for a snack?

“Well, we have CP in about 45 minutes so just grab a snack. “

“I don’t really want a snack.”

“If you get anything bigger than a snack you won’t eat anything at CP and you will rush me out while I am trying to eat as much as possible.

“Please, one little burger or hot dog won’t ruin my meal. Just go on your ride.”

Caitlin and I entered the line for the tea cups. As soon as we got in line I saw DH on the hunt for some food. I knew exactly what he would get. I gave him a few minutes and then sent a text asking what he had picked to ruin his dinner. He had found a hot dog and chips.

After the tea cups Caitlin and I found DH. He had left us homemade (that doesn’t seem right- fresh made, handmade???) potato chips. Caitlin was very annoyed that he didn’t get her a hot dog and she didn’t like the chips. “No fair” What part of “We are eating in about 30 minutes at a place that has unlimited food” do these people not understand?

We headed over to CP around 2:45. I wasn’t sure if the 3pm would give us any trouble making our way to CP so I wanted to head over before it started. We checked in around 3 and had a seat on the bench. We went in at 3:15 which is the first official dinner time.

I asked DH if he wanted to take Caitlin or if he wanted me too. He said I should go by myself. He probably wouldn’t eat much. He wasn’t very hungry now. Shocking!

Everything that I had was very fresh and tasty except one piece of beef that was too fatty. I didn’t try much other than the basics b/c I knew DH and DD were counting the minutes until we could hit the pool. Most of the characters were around shortly. Towards the end of the meal it looked like we might miss Tigger but he ended up coming around right before we left.

I love CP and would go back for dinner sometime, but only if traveling with someone who actually eats at a buffet. DH doesn’t like buffets. He doesn’t understand how people go back over and over again. If you eat 1 plate of food at home for dinner, why would you need more on vacation? Although I complain about his eating habits, it is probably a good thing. If I was married to someone who liked to eat the way I do I would weigh about 300lbs. I think we will go back to the pre park opening breakfast next time.
Right after our meal we headed straight for the bus stop. The bus was already there loading and we were back to our resort in no time.

Way to put your foot down about Snow White! I wish I had done that. :sad2:

Too bad about DH not listening to you about the meal. Don't our families know that we know what is best? ;)

Your Magic Kingdom day sounds fun :) Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain are 2 of my favorite rides. And the photos from the confectionary are making me hungry!

Sounds like y'all had a good day in MK! I'm glad you got to do some of the rides you were wanting to do. And I'm glad you stuck around for your CP ADR, even if DH didn't take heed of your warning about eating more than a snack. I have decided that I really want to try CP on our next vacation. I'm thinking I want to try the breakfast. I wanted to do it on our last trip, but since Reid's not in to the Winnie the Pooh characters, I decided against it.

I wish we had taken more pictures. They are usually the only family pictures we get. You are right, the more time in the parks the more pictures. Too bad there is no photopass person at the pool. We would have maxed that CD out!

We never even got our picture at DHS or Epcot:confused3

Great pics! Can't wait to read more : )

Thank you !

I LOVE the family picture in front of the castle. You all look so fresh and nice. I always look exhausted and frumpy.

I am terrible about stopping for Photopass photographers, but I keep practicing and am getting a little better. ;)

Usually I try to get the pictures first thing but these were from the afternoon. Luckily it wasnt too hot and we had just enjoy a nice hour long rest on a bench in the shade. Usually by midday I am all red and puffy. Towards the end of the week I stayed far away from the camera.

I rarely made anyone do anything they didn't want to, but Caitlin would never be able to see the ride again. She had to do it!

I wish DH had been hungrier at CP. It would have given me more time to try some other stuff. I tried telling him aroung lunch time to get something, but no, he could last until 3. Like we haven't been together for 12 years and I have no idea what his eating habits are:confused3

We didn't do as much as I would have liked, but we did my 2 favorites so it was a good day in my book.

I always have such a hard time picking what to get when I am at a candy store or bakery. They have so much to chose from. I could go for one of those apples right about now, or maybe some fudge. Yum.

I am glad I made us stick around for CP too. Caitlin liked seeing the characters and she actaully ate some food.

Breakfast at 8:05 is an awesome way to start the MK day. Caitlin isn't a huge Winnie the Pooh fan (which I never understood since I am) but she still likes seeing them. The food is very good and I love the inside of the building. It is so bright and pretty inside. Even if Reid doesn't love WTP now, as long as he likes characters he will enjoy this meal. It is so good.

Caitlin is actually looking forward to seeing the new Winnie the Pooh movie that is coming out in July.
I can't wait to see it. I am so happy they are going back to the classic WTP instead of that awful detective show they had on the disney channel:mad:

A PP photographer at the pool?? Now THAT would be a great idea! :thumbsup2

And let me guess what happens next...your DH get's hungry later when you aren't because you ate at CP and he didn't.

I'm not one to always head back up several times at a buffet, but I do enjoy them for the variety.

I'm the same way - I've always loved Pooh & friends but Reid never has (not even as a baby). The funny thing is, the week leading up to our vacation, Reid discovered who Tigger is & that he loves to bounce. Well, Reid loved that about him & started showing interest in him then. I was like, "Great. Now you show interest in a Pooh character. :rotfl:

I want to see the new movie, too. I want to bring Reid to his first movie this summer. But, I'm thinking he would rather Cars 2. But, maybe if he does well for it, I'll bring him to see the new Pooh movie as well. I'm like you, so happy it's going back to the classic look & storyline of WTP. I HATE the whole detective agency thing on Disney with the little girl & her dog. Sorry, but that is just NOT how it should be!

DH has some sort of convention/class for work this week. It is about an hour away and it happens to be right across from the casino. He just called me to tell me that he went to the casino for lunch and decided to do a little gambling.

He won $500:banana::banana:Since my birthday is coming up he is going to split it with me:goodvibes

DH always has good luck at the casino but then ends up losing it b/c he doesn't know when to walk away. This time he hit $500 and managed to walk away. Whoo-hoo.

Of course this is Disney related b/c any extra $ is more more to save for Disney:yay:

I'm not one to always head back up several times at a buffet, but I do enjoy them for the variety.

I usually hit the buffet a few times. Once to get the things that look good, twice to try stuff I usually don't, third if I didn't like any of that new stuff I'll grab the items that were my favorite and last would be dessert. I cut out the trying new stuff this trip b/c I knew I had a clock ticking away while eating. I also don't like to load my plates to much b/c I don't like my food to touch or mix together. (Weird I know, but I don't want bbq sauce on my salmon or mac and cheese sauce on my beef)

It's too bad Reid didn't have an interest in Tigger before.

I can't wait to see the new movie. It looks so adorable:goodvibes

Caitlin doesn't really have an interest in Cars so I won't have to see Cars 2. I am trying to limit the movies we go see in the theaters this summer so I am picking Harry Potter and Winnie the Pooh. The rest will all be rentals.
