What ever happened to Body Wars?

I know it's been closed for a long time but why did they close it without replacing it? I rememeber riding it in the past (and I vaguely remember it being a FP attraction??) and with the obvious shortage of rides in Epcot, I wonder why Body Wars, along with the Making of Me aren't open??

The entire pavilion is closed, except for special occasions. I would think the parts for the ride are used in repairs for Star Tours.

For one thing, it lost its sponsor.

For another, the entire Wonders of Life pavilion wasn't very well attended. I believe its out-of-the-way location was partly to blame. It was hard to see unless you were looking for it, not being very visible from any main pathways.

I think the ride itself made more Guests queasy or uneasy than does Star Tours. It was partly the subject matter, and partly the rocking motion of travelling through the bloodstream.

That whole pavilion is closed which is really a shame. We particularly liked Cranium Command and there was a pretty decent place to get some healthy snacks too.

I liked that pavilion too. Such is life, I guess. But EPCOT has lost a lot of its appeal to me now.

This I believe. I rode this once with a large family group, and EVERYONE in my party was queasy afterwards, and we never get motion sickness from rides. Exiting from the ride you could see quite a few people vomiting, others very green and sick looking.

The ride itself and concept was awesome though, it was the execution of it that made people sick. I'll bet the cast members who worked in that pavillion were glad to see that ride shut down.

I went on once as a kid and was so scared and freaked out that they actually stopped the ride to let me off. When I went back to Epcot two years ago, I sought it out so I could finally see what I made such a big deal over, and was sad to see the whole pavilion closed. The part of the park felt eerily quiet.. the only person I saw was a CM pretending to sweep up invisible garbage. :)

You can visit the Wonders of Life pavillion now since it's the location of the F&W festival welcome center.I hear the attractions are still sitting there, not operational but mostly intact.

I was only able to go to the Wonders of Life pavilion once and I enjoyed it a great deal. Cranium Command and Body Wars were both fun. But I had heard from sources/ guide books at the time (15 years ago?) that though Star Tours and Body Wars were the same sort of ride, Body Wars tended to make more people feel ill.

You can still visit the pavilion providing they are either having the Food & Drunk festival going on or the Flower and Drunk festival happening. The Cranium Command show is still there, intact, but closed off by walls. Body Wars is completely gone. The bays that the simulators sat in are now empty.

Many of the old 'areas' that were used for shows like "Making of Me" are still there but either empty or used for storage.

Body Wars was one of my favorites as a child. :goodvibes

I loved having to go in and remove the splinter! :p

Loved this pavilion when I was a kid. I still think it was the best in epcot. I wish my DS could ride cranium command and body wars. He would love it.

On the first Disney trip I can remember, I went on and got so sick I ended end throwing up in a Sizzler! I've never been motion sick since, but it's scared me away from Mission Space and Star Tours for sure.

Is that the ride where you are riding in the blood stream? If so this ride always reminded me of that Martin Short/Dennis Quaid movie lol...

My sister got sick in Body Wars but Star Tours didn't bother her at all. I think in her case it was mind over matter since the film was not gross in any way.

I LOVED Body Wars as a child. The technology was new and awesome, and this ride was a total headliner in epcot, long before test track came along. I remember riding it again as an adult after it being shut down for many trips. I despised it as an adult and could totally see why they shut it down, it was terrible. Same exact kind of experience that I had watching Captain EO again as an adult, was awesome as a kid, terrible as an adult. Perhaps the same thing is going on here with all the body wars fondness, if they brought it back you would realise why they took it away.

I only ever rode it as an adult and I loved it. I was really sad to see they took the whole pavilion away before I was able to take my younger children to WDW.
