What else would you like to "co-own" with others? For some it might be a boat, an RV, or an airplane.

For me, as I prepare my feathered friends for boarding ... it would be kennel services. I figure that a commitment for 3 weeks each year -- especially in a point-based "night by night" system -- would be perfect. LOL! I'm sure my bill tomorrow will feel like a timeshare purchase!

So, what would you be interested in sharing??

Years ago I owned an airplane with 7 other people. (It was a Mooney 201 for those familiar with aircraft). For legal purposes, we incorporated, created 8 shares of stock, and each member owned one share in the corporation. The corporation itself only had assets of the plane, supplies, and stuff.

It worked out great. Our hourly cost to fly were considerably lower than what it would cost to rent an airplane and it even included a reserve for the future maintenance and TBO costs. If I recall it was about $40 per tach hour time (not Hobbs time as if in a rental plane). I flew it from Iowa to Florida on a few occassions. (One time landed at kissimmee AP with a huge thunderstorm only 10 miles away and closing fast).

At 180 mph it sure beat driving.

As to other 'timeshare' type deals, maybe some automobiles kept somewhere at WDW for members to use while there. Maybe one car at each resort. Members could check it out for several hours if they wanted to go off site some time, perhaps to get groceries, go to a restaurant, etc. That might fit in well with the free transportation Disney is going to start offering from the A/P to the World. Members wouldn't need to rent cars anymore, but still would have access to one for short trips.

I doubt DVC would ever get into it (just think of the administrative headaches, not to mention the legal issues).

years ago WDW offers to seniors a senior Magic Kingdom card for 5 years for $35 the entire time.

it had FREE kennel - well I had already brought DVC - so I got one for mother - boy did we use it!!!

and we weren't the only ones - after 3 years - WDW decided it as losing too much money and did away with it....

but those 3 years were great - the rooms were paid for, we still got the free tickets, and then the kennel was paid for - the only thing we had to buy was the food....

I know it doesn't help you - but WDW did try it once - maybe they will again!!!

Mooney? S-w-e-e-e-e-e-t! I flew mostly 172s and the occasional Archer. I have a bit of time in a King Air ... but not "loggable." ;)

Oh, my. I can't even fathom "free"! 'Specially not after today's check-in process and paperwork. Oh, my, my, my.
