What else to do on Oahu?

The beach Bar at Moana has very good afternoon music, Get a Mai Tai and enjoy the best bar on earth

We used to got there almost every Sunday afternoon! I have to agree - we met some other locals that did the same, so it was like a little family! Mai Tai's were better at the Hale Koa (but honestly now they aren't) but the music was the best at the Moana!

We did Pearl Harbor, diamond head, ala moana center(mall), shop around waikiki. We also rented a car and drove around the island, making many stops, including lunch at Giovannis shrimp truck (this was my favorite day)

There is tons to do on Oahu: Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, the Polynesian Cultural Center, lots of great beaches. Beaches that are more quiet than Waikiki include Kailua Beach Park, Lanikai, Kahana Bay...... If you're driving around the island you might want to avoid doing too much on the west side of the island; it can be a little sketchy in areas. It's beautiful to drive over there, but I wouldn't plan on doing much else than drive on that side of the island. The Halona Blowhole is awesome too. It's the beach where "From Here to Eternity" was filmed. Have fun!

Things we did and would do again,
1. Pearl Harbor
2. Kualoa Ranch
3. North shore for beach time and to watch the surfers
4. Shrimp trucks. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
5. Tried to drive all the way around the island. Can't be done, I found out because of the Military Base. Still a fantastic drive.
6. Luau. Because you just have to.
7. Learned to Surf with Hawaiian Fire. Can't say enough good about these guys.

Things we did and would not do again.
1. Polynesian Cultural Center. Really didn't appeal.
2. Dole Pineapple Plantation. Aging badly. Needs to be refreshed.
3. Waikiki Beach. Seriously, couldn't drop a yard stick on the sand without hitting someone. CROWDED! And what happened to the International Marketplace?

The International Marketplace was torn down a few years ago.

We tend to skip Waikiki most trips now, or just go for a day. It's so busy!

PCC I went a couple times when we lived on Oahu, only to take out of town guests.

Dole is a must stop each trip, only because it's kind of a tradition. We don't shop there, though. Much of their stuff we can find at the flea market cheaper, and I'm not into tee shirts advertising Dole.
