What DS games do you have

Exactly no need to get one, unless she is after one.

The other good thing about handheld consoles are they are really good for airports and on the planes.

To the people who voted Cooking Mama what ages are your children.

My DD's are 5 & 4 and the eldest loves cooking Mama on the Wii.

Will she able to manage this on the DS?

I have a DS but wanted to get a game they could play on it and if they like it Santa can get them a DS each for Christmas. They will be 6 & 5. I think the youngest would love the pet ones.

I'd like to get them intersted in the DS as I would like this to while a few hours away on the flight to Florida next year when they'll be nearly 7 and 6.

No way would I let this take over from other activities although I do encourage the Wii as we all play this together and this is something they enjoy doing with their dad as he struggles to play dollies with them

First choice for them both would be playing outside in the garden but when the weathers bad a games console is just the same as watching a DVD/TV

We have got loads of games between the 3 of us - Cooking Mama, Touchmaster (great game - my favourite), Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games, Sims 2 pets, my Vet Practice, Yoshi's Island, Disney Friends, Build a Bear Workshop, Scrabble, Super Mario, Brain Training.

To be honest, my favourites are the platform games but I also like Disney Friends (I'm just a big kid at heart ) and Touchmaster is great - it's a compilation of lots of different card, board and puzzle games.

Joh, I like the sound of Disney friends, what's that about?

I have Cooking Mama for the DS and I think your DD would be fine with it- I don't think its too much different from the Wii version.
