What don't you get that everyone else seems to get?

Don't Get It-

1) Indiana Jones - It's just ok
2) Turkey Legs
3) Shopping in the Parks
4) Any food in the Park besides Corn Dog Castle
5) Fantasmic
6) Haunted Mansion Holiday

Pet Peeves-

1) Waiting for fireworks and then at the last minute someone uncomfortably crowds your spot
2) Dead stops in the middle of a walkway
3) People that think they're entitled to a better time than others
4) People that scream every time it gets dark
5) Smokers that "sneak" a cigarette like we won't smell it
6) People that walk in front of our stroller and then get mad when they get clipped

Love It-

1) Space Mountain
2) Pirates of the Carribean
3) Animation Studio
4) California Screamin
5) Character interaction with the kids
6) Watching my kids faces all day long - Magic!

Churros! Just don't get it. And not enough popcorn stands. They could swap them and I'd be happy!!! popcorn::

I don't get Vinylmation. What the heck are those things?

I don't get the arcade either. Why go to DL and spend time standing in front of a machine you could play at the mall or place like that. Unless its a treat that you only get to do on vacation, as in you can't play video games at home, ever. And really where's that likely to be true in the US these days?

Autopia is ... eh to me too. I could see where kids would love it and I get that part, but not so much the adults.

I do get people being nostalgic for yesterland rides. It brings back the feeling of when they were a kid or whatever memory they associate with riding that ride. DH loves the Country Bears and even though I never saw them at DL, I love the CoP and the People Mover!

Don't get: Turkey legs, chimichangas, mint juleps, snow white ride, Captain EO

Get: Monte Cristo, dole whip floats, BBQ chicken pizza, tower of terror, pirates, space mountain

Losing its charm: Jungle Cruise

Eight bucks for a turkey leg? I just don't get it. But they must be sprayed with nicotine or something because a lot of the people I see eating them gnaw them down to bone and tendons then crack the bone open to suck out the marrow. Nicotine spray is the only explanation I can think of.

The first time I rode Snow White, my friend and I got out, looked at each other, and said, "What the heck just happened?" It gets darker and heavier and more ominous with every second, thunder and lightning and a witch then "They lived happily ever after."

Captain EO. Wow. Just wow. Michael Jackson, George Lucas, and Francis Ford Coppola came up with THAT? Just thinking about it again locks my brain.

The Monte Cristo is awesome. I don't know where the chicken cordon bleu comparison comes from since there's no chicken involved. :) It's an acquired taste. Part breakfast, part dinner. If my grandma hadn't occasionally made them while I was growing up, the whole concept would seem weird. But don't get it at Blue Bayou. Save $6 and get it at Cafe Orleans. If you're making the effort to get a table in BB, get something exclusive.

BBQ Chicken Pizza at the Cove bar is excellent and easily feeds 2 for $10.

I used to insist on hitting the Jungle Cruise every visit because there was a lot of variation in the narration and some of the CMs did some very good improv. The last few times I've gone on it, the script has been nearly identical. Well, except for the guy who kept losing the thread.

BTW, the split plate charge has little to do with the act of splitting the meal onto two plates. It has much to do with recovering the money lost by seating a non-paying customer. Some places will give you a little something to make it seem like a good deal (BB provides a second salad or gumbo) but the entrees are where restaurants make their money. If you've got 4 people at $40/person, that's a bill of $160 plus tip. If you've got 4 people but only 2 entrees, that's more like $90. But the server's still moving drinks for four people and, even if the diners split the food themselves, place settings for four need to be set, cleared, and washed. While they don't have to prepare as much food, the savings isn't anywhere near the $70 difference and the server works just as hard but gets a much smaller tip.

We usually order 2 meals for our family of 4 and share between us. With the super sized food most places serve, there is no way one person can eat all that, or should. We do however tip what it would have cost for 4 entrées as we realize the server is waiting on 4 of us, not just two. I realize this doesn't recover costs for the restraunt, but I can't justify paying more to waste food.

Magic Mornings. :confused3

While it was nice having an extra hour at the park... I thought we'd be walking right onto the Fantasyland rides. Nope. They were more crowded during the Magic Morning than they were when we came back in the afternoons.

Again.. nice getting into the park at 9:00a as opposed to 10:00a, but it certainly wasn't less crowded.

You know, I was thinking this same thing when we were there a couple of weeks ago. Our Magic Morning in Nov. really did seem like "magic" -- we had 10 or 12 rides that hour. Two weeks ago it was a bust. We (or rather just me -- my husband slept in) did a grand total of 4 rides that hour. It was crazy. I did PP first with a 10 minute wait. Since I was by myself, I could get where I wanted to go quickly so that wasn't an issue. I wasn't planning on doing Dumbo when I got off PP but I glanced over at the line and it was ridiculously long already. In Nov. we walked onto PP, then walked onto Dumbo and almost all the other Fantasyland rides. This time I headed to Matterhorn after PP and they were running just the FL side but the line was wrapped clear around the TL side, almost next to Tomorrowland Terrace. I just wasn't expecting that after our first MM experience.

The whole Twilight craze.

Ok...I know it's not Disney but I still don't feel the vampire love :rolleyes1

*Clam Chowder Bowls: I was pretty psyched when I heard about the Boudin bowls at DCA. I love Boudin's clam chowder bowls. The ones at DL taste like flour and vegetables. I've tried it on 3 or 4 different occasions(I've even tasted the one at New Orleans Square in DL park) thinking maybe I had an off batch, but no, it's always the same pasty glue like flour taste with strong vegetable notes to it. I do not taste the creamy rich flavorful clam chowder goodness that I expect each time I raise a spoonful to my mouth.

*Frozen Lemonade Slush: It was way too artificial tasting. It was too sweet in a sickly sweet way. It left a bad aftertaste in my mouth and a headache to boot. I was expecting something refreshing with the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I heard the ones at WDW in DHS are very good. I am looking forward to trying theirs.

*Churros: Tasted like a staler version of the ones from Costco or Sam's Club. Maybe I got a bad batch. I'm not keen on giving it another try, though, and normally outside the park, I love churros.

*Diet Coke: Ok, is it just me or is the Diet Coke in the park off? Is their mix off? Is the water just bad there? It's better to stick bottled soda or bottled water when in the parks(although the Fanta frozen slurpees are very good at both parks! :D) Diet Coke from the fountain always tastes awful...this has been the case for me in the last couple years I've been going there on a regular basis. I wish the restaurants there would serve canned coke and a glass of ice instead (very unlikely, I know).

I don't get pin trading, either. There are other things I'd rather be doing, spending money on.

I love pin trading and talking with the different CM's.

My hubby isn't on Facebook.

Me either.

I don't get Storybook land. Even my then 3 year old found it boring. What a waste of time!

This is my favorite ride at night. It's so pretty!

One word.... CROCS! :confused3

One word...comfort! :rotfl:

I don't get why they only sell the caramel popcon in DCA. (If's it's in DL I haven't found it yet.) The carmel popcorn is SO good!

What I don't get:

The appeal of the Rainforest Cafe. It's nothing special--they are all over the place. When I go to DL I want a unique, special experience that I can't get at any mall across the country (with way overpriced food to boot).

Our kids don't even care for it.

I also personally think the Haunted Mansion is just "eh". (Don't shoot me!) Some of the effects are neat, but it's kind of boring to me.

I don't get staying near Disneyland and going to a different park like Sea World or Legoland.

I don't get why Toy Story Midway Mania doesn't have Fast Pass and yet Roger Rabbit does.

I don't get the 75 minute lines in any line (especially those with Fast Pass, why in the world don't people simply grab a Fast Pass and come back later...particularly Splash Mt and Soarin' which have them available longer).

I don't get Captain EO, sorry but it is just too weird for me and I didn't like it in the 80's so why would I like it now?

I don't get why Gadget's Go Coaster is there when there are so many incredible movies that don't have a ride or even a character in the park?

I don't get Paradise Pier...at least now they are starting to put some Disney themes on certain rides...

I don't get why Princess Fantasy Faire has such a huge unused theatre...

I don't get why Splash Mountain was built when they won't release the movie (Basically, I want to own that movie on DVD, can Disney please release it in the U.S.?)

I don't get Vinylmation, or the Penguin thingies...

I don't get tired of Disneyland, and can't understand how people tire out after only 2 days... I could stay there for 2 weeks without complaint and probably do it commando style the whole time!

I don't get why there isn't a bigger cast of characters at Disneyland...why is it Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Stitch are the only ones ever in Sunshine Plaza and are always there! Spice it up a little more and bring out some classic characters once in a while like Robin Hood, Timothy Q Mouse, the 7 dwarves, Jiminy Cricket, or some newer ones like Beast, Remy from Ratatouille, Dug from Up, etc...

I don't get turkey legs:sick: My older DD loves Tigger Tails so much that we learned how to make them at home! Younger DD is looking forward to seeing the original Tiki Room again--she hates the one at WDW:headache:and her career of choice is to be a jungle cruise skipper:rotfl:

Never had a monte cristo, mint julep, or tigger tail. I do like dole whips though. Had my first one this year. It was super sweet so I only ate a small one.

Some people talked about high heels at Disneyland. I don't get that either. I don't get wearing ANY kind of shoe that is uncomfortable. Sometimes while in line, I'll notice people wearing heels or flip flops and their feet with be covered in band-aids. Just seems kind of dumb to me.

Things I don't really "get" =
turkey legs - they just look gross.
staying onsite - I can't rationalize spending that much for a hotel room I'm barely in.
Fantasmic - I think it's a good show but not amazing like everyone else seems to think it is.

Wow...I just read through all 10 pages, lol :thumbsup2

Anyway, I am definitely one of the few who don't get the Tiki Room. DBF and I saw it once and wanted to leave within the first minute of seeing it :confused3

I also don't get the following:
~ Monte Cristo...the first bite was okay and then it just got more and more disgusting and all along, I thought I loved all things fried!
~ Tigger Tails: never tried it but it just looks so disgustingly sweet
~ Minnie & Friends: other than being able to see a lot of characters, it was all bad including the character interaction. Like a PP said, a lot of the characters kept missing our table. The food was bleh...
~ Teacups: those things made me so dizzy as a kid, been avoiding them since

But I love churros, Dole Whips, turkey legs, TSMM and of course, Napa Rose! :lovestruc
