What don't you get that everyone else seems to get?

I don't get the BLue Bayou. We've tried it twice. Made PS's for earliest time (opening 11:30, I think), arrived at 11:00 to check in and request waterside. Waited in that stupid crammed waiting room with cranky hungry kids only to find out that they seated us next to the kitchen or the bathrooms or somewhere that didn't even feel like we were in the Pirates ride!

Then we order and get the split plate charge, totally tiny portions and my kids refuse to eat anything on their incredibly small menu. I give up on the BB.

I love Disneyland like crazy and am constantly planning my next trip but I just don't get BB. Oh well. Now the family looks forward to Whitewater Snacks! Love me some nachos!

I knew it didn't sound right:goodvibes What's the name of that thing where you go in and the door revolves? (tells you how much we pay attention to it...we go either in the direction of space mountain or autopia (or the bathrooms back in there).

It was America Sings and then they took the chickens out and put them in Splash Mountain. I think its Innoventions now.

Gnarly, huh Dobie?! And thats my spawn! :rotfl2:

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the "split plate charge"? Don't tell me they charge you if you want to split an entree?

Actually, you can split an entree for free if you just ask for an extra plate, and do it yourself. Make clear to the server that you don't want a "split plate", you just want to do it yourself.

The split plate charge gets you an extra salad and extra sides (veggie, potato, etc). But the main entree is split in half. So the server will come out with two complete meals of the same type, but each will have just half of the entree.

It really makes a complete meal out of the half orders. If that's what you want, I don't think the split plate charge is unreasonable. That said, I don't really know how much it is

BTW, I agree with the person above who said the surf and turf at BB is delicious! Lobster tail and Filet Mignon, done just right. Yum!!

last time we were there (Blue Bayou), there wasn't even a split salad for the charge. We just each got the side but still had to split the salad. (This was a few months ago when we ate there).

I don't get Storybook land. Even my then 3 year old found it boring. What a waste of time!

Also the Monte Cristo sandwich. Blech! I could only take one bite and our server felt sorry for me and told me he would take it back and I could order something else. I don't think I've had that much grease in my life, never mind one meal!!

And even though Bengal BBQ is over priced....I have to have one every trip! The sauce is sooooo good. Even the green onion in the sauce so yummy!

Not a sweets person, so I don't get any of the excitement of ingesting fried sugar. Food certainly adds enjoyment to our trips....but mostly by grabbing CS and finding a nice spot to eat but mostly enjoy the surroundings. The food always remains secondary for me.

The other thing i don't get is the notion of "magic" as an external source....like "is the magic still at DLH"? I think "magic" is an internal reaction and governed by us ! I found HM holiday overlay magical, others don't.......either way it is not like Mr Magic lives at HM and a person must hunt him down !

but i do get we all love DLR for entirely personal reasons ! :)

I don't get the "Minnie & Friends" breakfast...well, I understand how it should be wonderful, but hubby and I have been there twice. Once with children, once without. Both time had terrible character interaction, even though there were at least 7-8 characters present - most just never came by our table, even though we were there for at least an hour. And the food was terrible.

Now Goofy's is another story...we love it :yay:

And to whomever suggested the monorail should stop at the GCH, ITA!

I love Disneyland, it is so magical...that is why there are things everyone "won't get" because we all have different opinions....but everyone will find something or several something's they will fall in love with!

I have never had a Dole Whip, not sure if I am missing anything or not :confused3 And I love pineapple!

I don't get the Monte Cristo either...not a fan of chicken cordon bleu...

What I really don't get though, is ladies that wear high heels to Disneyland...what are they thinking???

What I absolutely love is seeing grown, big, burly men proud to be wearing their Mickey ears around in public and Bengal BBQ bacon wrapped asparagus skewers, they are YUMMY!!!

I've never had a Dole Whip...not a huge huge fan of pineapple, and would MUCH rather have a churro!

I'm eh on the Tiki Room...the one at WDW is much better w/the updates.

DH is very sad that the Treehouse was rethemed to Tarzan. He much prefers the Swiss Family Robinson theme at WDW.

LOVE the Blue Bayou though. We reserved first seating, and got there at 11:00 to check in--we were the first people seated in teh entire restaurant and got the perfect waterside table! I had the Tesoro Island chicken (yum) adn DH had the Monte Cristo...he couldn't finish it though, and doesn't think he'll get it again. It is really good, but it's HUGE! A 1/2 portion would be awesome

I'm also hoping they continue to upgrade the Disney theming at DCA!

Ok I am awaiting my first trip to Disneyland in 12 years in Sept. so I can only say what I don't get about these boards :lovestruc(which I LOVE by the way) when there are so many abbreviations it takes me forever to figure out what your saying beyond the obvious ones.:confused3

That said, I still keep reading & trying to figure them out:rotfl::rotfl: cause they keep me excited about our trip:surfweb::banana::dance3::cheer2:and you all give GREAT advise!

Blue Bayou...sure the ambience is nice but the food is meh and way overpriced....oh ya and smoked Turkey legs:sick:

In case you don't remember, he was proven innocent. Both times. It was just greedy people wanting money. And he deserves that show there after how crappy the last 15 years of his life was.

No, he was found "not guilty" which is a far cry from "innocent"...it just means that there wasn't proof beyond a reasonable doubt. There may well have been proof by a "preponderance" or "clear and convincing", still too low to sustain a criminal conviction, but certainly not "innocent". The process makes no assertion of "innocence" at all within the trial [except for the legal fiction of "presumed innocent" that we instruct even when they guy has confessed, been videotaped committing the crime and did it infront of 100 witnesses] I don't recall there ever being a stipulaiton of factual innocence for Mr. Jackson. That aside, I don't need a criminal court to validate my belief that he was a molester who paid off complaining witnesses....so, he didn't go to jail, I won't see his movie or buy his music.

Yes! Every time my friends and I go to DLR, we stay on 'high heel alert,' because we know that, inevitably, we will see women in heels stomping around. Now, of course, women are entitled to wear their heels if they want to - but who in the heck would want to? If you have ever heard of Disneyland in your life (and I suppose that probably 99% of people have heard of Disneyland), you can assume it is not a heel-friendly place. So we always assume, "Well, maybe they are just going to Club 33 and leaving," or "Maybe they just wandered in from a night out and decided to come to DL for a couple of hours." We also assume that maybe some girls are on dates, trying to look their best, and they don't want to be seen by their dates without their heels on. I have no clue. But it boggles the mind...and there is always a handful of the high-heeled ladies that we see on every trip.

FWIW the Japanese gals at Tokyo Disney wear heels. Lots of boots with heels and lots of shoes heels. Some kind of cultural thing. :confused3 TDR is known as a big date destination.

Wow! Well, if they can be comfortable in those shoes while walking around TDR and getting on rides and things, more power to them! Most girls know and agree, I think, that heels look great, but they are torture after a few hours - especially at a place like DLR or TDR or WDW, etc. So if the Japanese girls have gotten used to wearing their heels and do not suffer in the process, they might have some secrets that we don't know about here! I still don't know that I would be stepping onto boat rides or exploring Pirate's Lair in heels, even if I were comfortable - because I am too much of a klutz and would probably catch the heel on something and go flying!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
