What don't you get that everyone else seems to get?

I don't get the monte cristo sandwhich. Heart attack on a plate. As a matter of fact my best friend who gets it everytime we go did have a heart attack this year.

Splash mountain. I get the end is exciting, but before that it is so boring and confusing. Almost no young people even know the story.

I HATE what they did to the submarinbe ride. The new nemo ride is boring and a total joke.

When Splash first opened the water flow was slower so you really did get more of the story as you rode it. I heard that they increased the water speed in order to get more people through - since then if you blink you miss most things.

HEY!!! both are awesome! :rotfl:

...for me? the tea cups...

Aww, we love the teacups! They're a must-do on every trip.

I love this thread and being able to see how everyone's opinions are both similar and different!

EDIT: Also, I don't get the big deal with the dessert package and preferred seatings for F! and the like. I think half of the fun is staking out your spot early and spending quality time just talking and playing around while waiting. Also, we've been fortunate enough to meet some great people and have some really nice conversations during those times. :)

Seriously?

I LOVE that ride so much! But, I love Toy Story...and I like the competition too.

I know! EVERYONE else seems to love it. It's just me I think :scared1:. I love the movie, but I'm not a fan of the ride. I find it stressful :lmao:

I don't get the teacups, the turkey leg, or the chocolate covered banana. I don't hate the banana, but don't see the big deal. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one when we got there, but it just seemed like something you can purchase in the supermarket anywhere.

Oh and I don't get facebook either. Okay, I know, that has nothing to do with DLR but it's something i've been trying to figure out recently and I just don't get why it's so popular when it seems kind of messy and disorganized and overly complicated. But apparently I seem to be the only one who feels that way. :rotfl:

Facebook? What's that? J/K! I don't get it either. I think I'm the only person I know who isn't on Facebook. I occasionally look over my husband's shoulder when he is on and I just don't get some of those updates. "so and so is standing in line." "so and so is looking out the window." "so and so just poked you." "so and so's pet invited other so and so's pet to play." OK, I think I made my point. My point being...Who. Cares.

I love the Tiki Room. Still gets me teary. I'm a nostalgic kind of girl. I also would be so sad if they got rid of Autopia. I giggle like a school girl every time I ride. Something about that steering wheel spinning out of control just makes me laugh.

I also don't get the Turkey Leg thing. (I don't get anyone eating meat off a bone and not paying attention to all that other grissle-y stuff they're eating other than meat. Sorry DH. ;))

I don't get pin trading, either. There are other things I'd rather be doing, spending money on.

Great thread, OP. :thumbsup2

I was anti-Facebook until most of my friends went over there and kept hounding me to go too, so I could post a bunch of my pictures for them to view. I went kicking and screaming. I hate all the Farmville/Mafia Wars stuff too, and it does get a bit silly when people post, "I'm looking out a window," or, "I'm cooking lasagna for dinner," (even though all of us on Facebook are guilty of posting stuff like that at some point or another because I think we feel we have to!).

However, I have found many official Disney pages on Facebook, and many Disney-related pages on Facebook, and they all post things that appear in my newsfeed. I get a lot of info - both commonly known stuff and trivia - about Disney on my News Feed. I also love Catalina Island, so I became a fan of all of their pages and get tons of info on Catalina. I can also become fans of certain shows I like, certain beauty product stores I like (like The Body Shop, Basin or Lush, for example), PhotoPass (who sends out alerts about discounts), certain restaurants I like or am interested in (Rainforest Cafe or Jazz Kitchen or Mimi's, for one), etc., etc. - and I get updates on all these places I like (as well as my friends' updates on their lives) in one spot, on my News Feed! So when I saw I could have all of this info in one place on Facebook, without having to go look up each place individually, I decided I liked it!! Plus, it is also a great way to share your photos and have everyone on your Friend list be able to look them over and comment on them 'together' and tag them so they get their own copies sent to their own FB pages!! There are quite a few cool things about it.

And...I can chat with many of my DIS friends from this board over on Facebook!!

Now, back to the topic at hand....I LOVE me some Toy Story Midway Mania!! Oh, I would be heartbroken if that ride ever left DCA for some reason. I love Soarin' too!!:lmao: But that's okay - if we all liked the same things equally, all the time, the world would be a pretty boring place!!:rotfl2:

People celebrating the a child molestor

Your comment will anger some people and be praised by others. Quite frankly I don't get it. He was AQUITTED!! Weird as he was I do not believe he molested anyone. All one has to do is look at the lawyer and the plaintiff involved and the history behind them and their allegations. They wanted money, plain and simple.

Someone mentioned Bengal BBQ. That's another one on our list. It gets pretty expensive to eat a couple pieces of chicken with ok sauce.

I like Bengal BBQ but the cost for what you get is absurd. I've only had the spicy beef skewers, not sure the name but they are really good but the price for a couple bites keeps me away.

Thank you! I completely agree!

As for the "I don't get it" stuff. I can't really comment, cause I haven't been there for 13 years. But I do remember thinking that about the Tiki Room and IASW. Having either of those songs stuck in your head is a little torturous!

Also I have a feeling I am going to be saying that about the Dole Whips as well. Not a big pineapple fan. Churro's on the other hand, I think they are to die for!! Mmm!

I have got to remember to hide that stuff. I keep thinking that if I hide it, I will end up hiding everything those specific friends post - some of which I want to read. But I don't want the Fish/Farm/Mafia/Psychic/Cafe stuff on the News Feed. I only want actual news/info, photos/videos or status updates from friends on the News Feed!!

Yes, that stuff was annoying me too so i just figured out how to hide it. You just clicked on the hide button and then it gives you a choice if you want to hide everything from that person or the type of post that it is (farmville, twitter, etc). So i hid the farmville stuff because i don't really care if so and so found fuel. lol. I also hid DH's cousin's teenage daughter because i don't need to read 5 posts about how she's going to watch Glee or that she changed seats in spanish class.

Anyway, i also joined kicking and screaming but so far i'm not overly impressed.

As for IASW. I remember hating it in high school (the song) but then i discovered that i LOVED the holiday overlay and now i like the original too because i like looking at the design that went into it. As a graphic designer, i like to look at things from that perspective. Also DS loves it so i love watching him on it.

I don't get the Tiki Room. The first and only time we went in there, we were exhausted and looking for a nice place to relax. The birds started talking and we thought it was nice...then all the birds started singing and so did all the people. My hubby looked at me like "get me out of here"! :scared1:

I also don't get Fantasmic. In all our trips to DL, we've never seen it because we don't want to have to scout out a spot and sit forever waiting for it to start. Maybe I would "get it" if I saw it once.

I don't get Vinylmation. It looks cheap and lame to me. I'm another one who doesn't get Dole Whips either, they taste like medicine. Yuck. Not getting Tiki Room either. We did it last trip since I love theming around the area and in the courtyard but the show was just bad bad bad and I wanted to get out so bad. And whether or not you think MJ was guilty or not of the molestation chrages, I just don't get Capt EO. I saw it as a kid several times and it was fine for it's time but I don't like bringing back old stuff. Some people just get so nostalgic for yesterland attractions, that the attractions become more wonderful and grand in retirement then they ever were when they were in operation which I guess would lead me to not getting the fascination with extinct attractions, I mean I loved Adventures thru Inner Space and America Sings back in the day but I would be bored watching ride throughs or reading about it today.

As far as the "people celebrating the child molester" comment....I have to say that I was surprised and not surprised that Disney brought this show back.

It was a classic and growing up this was my dad's only MUST DO attraction/show in the late 80's.

However, the whole issue of the child molestation is very controversial and I'm surprised that Disney would enter into that controversy. We all know that just because MJ was found innocent doesn't mean it's true- remember OJ folks??

However on the other hand, I'm not surprised- it's the classic, "artist's work is worth more now that he's dead" kinda thing. Disney is just like everyone else and has found a way to cash in on that fame.

I for one will enjoy seeing Captain EO because it reminds me of going with my family as a child. It's still a great experience, regardless of whether MJ was guilty or innocent.
