Wow, some nice homes everyone! I thought I'd post a pic of my castle as well. It's sort of a Contemporary Colonial....called "The Country Rose". I'm particularly proud of the landscaping we did. (I don't even pay any illegal aliens to maintain it.) Our architect really did a nice job with the porch and skylights. I don't have a current assessment to post here, but I figure it's in the high 800's.

About Texas, man I cannot beleive the prices, and I am in Kansas City, which is not terribly expensive!

DH was offered a promotion if we moved to Houston, and I said lets look at housing there to see if we could even afford it. I could not believe how many new houses over 2000 square feet I saw under 200k!!!! I was so excited, but DH does not want to leave here, he has parents that he loves. Doofus!

This is the house we just put an offer on last night so I hope we get it!

I am SO Excited! It is 6 bedrooms and 7 baths which is an upgrade from the 4 bedrooms I have now! Plus it is closer to work.

TX housing is affordable, but I think property taxes are really high in TX. I have a friend in Houston paying $500 per month in property taxes on a $100k home. Of course, that may not be high to some.

7 1/2 acres - 8000 square foot custom home - 3 car garage, 5 bedrooms - inlaw - bridge though cathefral great room...
sorry can't scan the plans would take forever and I don't know how to post a picture here.

Intend to be in it until the baby is off on her own - so probably 20 years or so!

You would think huh! You cannot find many floorplans with the master up. Believe me I've tried because that's what I wanted. However, the majority rules around here and the rule is parents down, kids up and as far away as you can get them too!!! Privacy is what they say

That could come in handy when planing for retirement too. The only thing I don't like about the home we are building is that it won't have a bedroom on the first floor. That's OK though, I'll probably just retire in a motor hoome & park it in each kids backyard & hook it up to their house! That's what I keep threatening them with.
