we stayed at a condo on the gulf coast at Indian Rocks one year. It was january and the guy was cleaning the pool with a coat, hat and gloves on.. Hubby went down in shorts and said will the pool be ready by 11? The guy just looked at him in shock. We laugh about it still.

Isn't the disparity in what people can tolerate funny? :rotfl2:

t-beri: I don't mind 98...as long as the humdity is 0! I guess you wouldn't like winter up north? :rotfl:

The humidity down here can be killer even to those well adjusted and some people never do adjust. My husband and I both moved to FL (from OH and NJ) when we were 7 but he still acts like he remembers the Northern weather, like it's in his blood or something. I on the other hand wouldn't want to be anywhere else, except maybe closer to the equator:rotfl:

People from the north assume that us southerners want to see snow or should be excited about it.. I can't speak for the mass population of the southern states but I for one can do without it. When I was 16 my parents wanted to move back to our hometown and we went as soon as school was out that year. Halloween night it snowed and I called my Grand and told her to get my bedroom ready I'd be home by the weekend. Which I was.

It also floors me when people are like "it just doesn't feel like Christmas to me" when the weather isn't cool enough for sweaters and scarves or fireplaces. My MIL, hanging on to her northern perception of christmas will actually turn the air down so she can have a fire.
When all of your christmases have been here- it feels JUST like christmas. Though I have to work doubley hard to get my DH and MIL in the spirit sans snow and roaring fires... despite the fact they've lived here for 25 years. That still boggles my mind.

CURRENTLY the weather is rainy w/ a slight chance of rainy and I have a leak in my office ceiling that is dripping into a garbage pail-yeah, cause THAT'S not annoying...

When the kids are done high school.. I am hoping to spend my winters in Florida.. Yes I'll become a Canadian Snowbird.. I can just as easily hang Christmas stockings and put up a Christmas tree overlooking the gulf of mexico as I can looking out at a field of snow. I DONT need snow to make it Christmas!!!!! Christmas is where the heart is.. no matter where you are.. and if I can get away from snow.. and cold.. I will..

I never gave much thought to whether someone in the south would like to see snow or not. Personally, I live up north and I could do without it! We all have our crosses to bear I suppose where the weather is concerned. We have snow up north, the south gets hurricanes (although they can happen by us, they are truly rare anymore), my friend in the mid-west gets tornadoes...don't even want to think about earthquakes on the west coast.

For me, the holidays are about family...not about the weather. Its very hard to change someones ideas or perceptions though, so I can see where you have some issues your DH and MIL.

Hope your rain passes quickly. Right now we are at a sunny hot and humid 88...and climbing. Its enough for me! :rotfl:

This past Easter we had a Soccer Tournament in Dallas, and a FREAK cold front came through with SNOW. I Could not believe it, I had 3 blankets, 2 hats, gloves and so many sweater/sweatshirts I could barely move!!!

DH and I always have soccer on TV, and have seen many games from up North with the snow blowing. I have always said "how can those people watch that game in the snow". Then there I was like a fool out in the snow flurries watching DD play.

Currently we are at 86 degrees with 76% humidity which makes it feel like 95 degrees!!! This has been a nice break for us. Two weeks ago the heat index was at 105, you litterly couldn't breath outside.
