DH collects shotglasses (I mean toothpick holders - lol)
I collect pins and magnets - planning on starting postcards too
DS collects pressed pennies

what do you do in your family?

My house collects dust, no matter how hard I try to convince it otherwise! If I allowed the rest of the family to collect too many other things, I would have to convince the house to give up the dust. The house seems to be winning! :confused3

Seriously though DH, DS6 & DS3 collect every fishing accessory known to man. Not to mention the poles. But these stay outside and dust makes them better!

CLUTTER!!!! DS has a growing Diseny pin collection. I collect Sterling Silver Disney charms for my charm bracelet. DD loves everything and everything Disney Princess.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

DH collects shot glasses and Miami Dolphin things. He even insisted on building an elaborate bar in the basement to "showcase" his "collection" and does not drink a drop!
DD collects snow globes and I collect lighthouses.

My family collects the park and resort mugs!! We also collect the popcorn buckets. Our cabinets in the kitchen do not go all the way to the ceiling and we display our mugs on one set of the cabinets and our popcorn buckets on the other set.

We also collect pins, but not real heavy on that yet.

I stared collecting pins on our last trip, DD's collected pennys and are planning to get the ones they missed on our upcoming trip. No telling what else we'll end up deciding we have to start getting this time too!! ;)

I seem to get something new in my head each time I go. On a trip to England and Ireland, I had this obsession with buying playing cards. I don't know why. Last time I was at WDW I had to buy a beanie from each country at World Showcase. I always seem to regret my purchases but I do it anyway. I am hoping to buy just one or two, nice practical things to remember this trip. Yeah right!

DH collects technical books -- in his area of expertise/interest. I think he's up around 300. He reads them for enjoyment and for love of learning and can remember later which bit of information is located in which part of which book. I've already told him that if anything ever happened to him, one of the first things I would do is donate the books to a university. His response was, "Good, some of those books are out of print and they should be used by people who can learn from them."

I collected DH (and his books).

DS22 collects books too and recipes (he's a chef and loves trying new ones and then "tweaking" them to his liking).

DS9-football games. Not as in video, but real ones. He says everytime he sees a new team it's like collecting them. He does keep the tickets. He has under his belt Dolphins (3 games), Titans (4 games), NY Jets (1), Jags (1), TB Bucs (1), Broncos (1). He's hoping to add a Titans, Jets, Carolina, Atlanta and few more Fins games this year.

Myself-NAPS!! Long ones, short ones. Ones in bed, ones on the couch, the chair, the car, wherever I can "find" one I like to "take" one.

Since smoking is not politically correct anymore match books with advertising was always something free and easy to bring home. I did find some on our last trip to the Smokie Mountains.
:cool1:

DH use to collect John Force NHRA diecast cars, now he is into his reef tank hobby.

I'm happy he doesn't get any more cars cause they are dust collectors, but the reef tank takes up alot more room, plus is ALOT more EXPENSIVE to boot.

DS8, collects anything that has to do with dinosaurs.

DD5, doesn't really collect anything right now. If I had to pick something I guess it would be Strawberry Shortcake stuff. She has somethings, but not alot.

As for me, I think it would be cats. LOL!!! I have 3 and if I lived on a farm I would have alot more. Went into Petsmart today and they had "kittys" in there from the Humane Socity. If that farm was reality, every one of those kittys would have came home with me. ;) Really I use to collect Wizard Of Oz stuff. Long before going to WDW, I started collecting those Cinderella clocks you could buy in Wal mart, places like that. But haven't seen anymore put out. Since returning from WDW, I have been trying to decide what I want to collect now. LOL!!!

I collect animation artwork. Yeah, it's kind of expensive but they're great conversation starters. My most noticeable piece is the Duck Dodgers Finale. That one always brings back memories to a lot of people when they see it.

One thing I never understood was pin trading. However, during our recent trip to WDW, I saw all of these people with these lanyards graced with pins all over them trading them with CMs. It was pretty neat to see. My kids saw it too and wanted to get into it. Being the pushover dad I am, I gave in. The kids still like looking at them even now...

Promise not to laugh at my secret collection (Okay well maybe it's not that secret, they are proudly displayed and take up 2 large bookshelves in DH and I's room):

Stuffed Animals :rotfl:
I know! I know! But I love them! We've got a LOT of Stitch ones and whenever we go somewhere new I always see a "themed" one for that area and it winds up on our shelves. Like a little Tiger dressed up as the Statue of Liberty from New York (Got that one at the airport! lol) or a Grizzly Bear one from the mountains. :)

We also collect books. The only thing is, it's getting to the point where our collection is outgrowing our time to read them! Normally we get a book, read it, and then put it on it's perch, but between the Hydroponics books from WDW, the beginners guide to making Moonshine :rotfl2:, and Grizzy Bears, are they your friends, I think it's getting insane! That being said I can't wait to add more!

Actually, glad you mentioned that. My DW collect Beanie Babies. She's got 2 upright cases full of these bears. So, I don't think it's funny at all... At least my DW can understand my passion for collecting artwork...

My DS's are very into the whole pressed penny thing. We started at WDW 4 years ago and now we seem to find them every place we go.

I like getting Christmas ornaments from all of the special places we go or to represent special events in our lives.

Well, at WDW my kids do pressed pennies and on our last trip we did a few pins. I don't collect anything specific. I'm too cheap!!

But we are taking a "once in a lifetime" trip across the Southwest Region this summer and I have been wondering what we should collect. Postcards? Kind of boring, but I will probably buy some for the scrapbook. T-shirt...nah, don't need those. I hate fridge magnets and no thanks on the shot glasses. Christmas ornaments... well, maybe, but we have so many already that we can't hang them all! Do you think we could get pressed pennies at the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam or Vegas? I'd be okay with those... cheap, small, easy to store... just my kind of souvenir!!

Anyhow, any suggestions out there?.............P

We collect books; all kinds. This vacation I plan to "collect" a watch, a photo album, and an outfit;) .
