What does WDW need most?

Get rid of those ugly "tombstones" at the entrance of Epcot. The "Leave a Legacy" stones have totally ruined the "Ah!" factor of entering Epcot by the front door. We disliked them so much that we declined our tile on a trip when we had a package that included one. And now we always enter through the International Gateway.

The stupid hand/wand needs to go, too. Okay, it was fine for a brief time at the millenium. But it's over! Dump it!

I agree that the transportation system is in need of serious upgrading. They are still using a transportation system designed in the first half of the LAST century! I do not like paying large sums of money to be herded like cattle in in a standing room only bus among hot, stinky people . If the monorail is too expensive, then a rail system like MCO. Vegas seems to have done it, why not WDW?

better monorail access, a rethinking of AK (more rides), and most of all...

THEY NEED TO STOP TAMPERING WITH ALL THE OLD CLASSIC RIDES (ie World of Motion, Horizons, etc).

I definitely think that the monorail system should change to include the other two parks. Stop having playground areas and put in more rides. There are several good movies that don't have rides, 101 Dalmatians, Nemo, Toy Story (the whole story, not Buzz vs Lord Zerg, though I do like that ride), Monsters Inc., Aladdin (magic carpet ride doesn't do the movie justice), Pinnochio, just to name some.

How about finishing the original "Beastly Kingdom" plan at Disney's Animal Kingdom? I'm hoping the EE is just the beginning is a move towards bringing the idea back to life.

I live in Cancun, MX. We've been to Disney a lot in the past 10 years, but there are NO direct flights from Cancun to Orlando. Flying to Miami or Ft. Laud. and driving up (and then down when we leave) is kind of a pain. Gee, I'd even settle for a direct flight to Tampa... :earsboy:

39 days for 10th anniversary in WDW!!!!!

I absolutely agree with all the above posts, especially this one and I'd like to add another.....................
a place or system to measure the height of kids so that they can ride all the rides for their height and not have CM's pick and choose which ones they are tall (or not tall) enough for.... I know there are many threads about how they are tall enough for this ride, but not that one. The kids are the ones who lose out the most, getting so upset.... I think they need a central measuring area and get a bracelet or something.......IMHO

Along this idea, why can't they discount the park passes for those 3 and 4 year old children that are not tall enough to ride the 40" rides? My DD is 38" tall and we paid the same admission for her as our DS 7 and she only rode mostly the rides that our DS 20 months could go on (and he was in the park for free!) Maybe have a height verification at the park entrances so you know what to expect? :confused3

Sounds like they're making progress in that direction.

What exactly was the "Beastly Kingdom" plan?

As a proud Canadian, I feel that O! Canada is an embarassment to us. It needs a complete and total makeover and upgrade. It looks like a flashback to the 70's! UGH!!!

Some, any, alternative Disney Transport from Marketplace to Pleasure Island to West Side to Typhoon Lagoon. Will probably need use of the third dimension (underground or overhead). Regular buses would pick up at West Side or perhaps some other connection point to the west that is even less congested. Too bad little or no imagineering was done to provide better movement of people besides congested roads that are no differnet fromany city.

It is almost a no-brainer to run a "chicken version" of Mission Space and perhaps even Tower of Terror. There would be a separate "chicken line" and when enough guests have filled that line the next ride cycle would be the less intense version.

This is a FANTASTIC idea.

Also, to recap some other things that have been said that I think are great ideas:

1) I think Disney would do well with two new categories of hotels. First, an adults only boutique hotel. Second, a BUDGET priced "suites" or "studio" hotel. Like make an All-Star style hotel with suites. Comparable in quality to a Marriott Residence Inn or TownePlace Suites or something like that. Make is just slightly more expensive than the AllStar, say $100/night and it'll sleep 6 or 7 people.

2) Expand the monorail to include all of the deluxe hotels and all of the parks plus Downtown Disney. Monorail would be SO efficient if they expanded it. And I'd also like to see WDW take the lead in low emissions public transport systems. It would be a great PR opportunity to create the world's most efficient train system at WDW. And maybe even include hybrid buses like they have in Seattle?? That would be cool.

3) Update Space Mountain. (Others too of course but this one is such a gem but in need of restoration.

4) Update CoP. Make something special.

5) Make the dining plans better. Maybe a point system so you can be more flexible in your choices, like where a burger combo at Cosmic Ray's is 1 point and a dinner at Victoria and Albert's is 7 points. Something like that. And make kids dining universal, say 1 point no matter where you eat. Because the quality and quantity of kids food is about the same at all the Disney restaurants.

So many good suggestions already everyone!

I'd like to see a real Disney theatre, maybe at Downtown that has the full West End/Broadway shows such as Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Hunchback.

Paul.

Alot of GREAT ideas. I have to laugh though, cause where i live, Woburn,Ma. if I SEE ONE MORE DUNKIN DONUT i will SCREAM...come on really how do ALL these places stay in business........haha...........we all should of bought intothat.......... . I also agree on the tickets-we have been going every year for the last 6 - 8 years, I personally think the EXPIRATION on the TICKETS after 14 DAYs is a CROCK>.........come on , as much as its MY fav. place (more than any one in my family to .) i think that was a nasty trick...Also, i think that they should have a few more benefits for us on site guest....you know like NO WAITING in any LINE< not even FAST PASS ,you know what i mean.. We usually go in the summer, still really packed even with FP. just a few more little things would be nice. and what a waste Ariels Grotto....do something there.

Can you believe that the tore one down, just to build another one in its place, just a few feet over (to make room for a drive through!) Sheesh!

I don't know what you mean. My understanding is that you can have unlimited expiration if you want. The way it looks to me, they've basically made admission work however you want it to work. You just decide which services you want, and pay just for those services -- no others. Pay for only what you want -- That's super, AFAIC. I wish they'd do MORE of that sort of thing.

We're going back in January for the first time in a couple of years. Are the prices really reducing the crowds in the parks by that much?

No, the crowds have been awful! This won't be popular, but Disney needs to raise gate prices and hotel prices and food prices to reduce the crowds.

Beastly Kingdom was one of the original "land" ideas for Animal Kingdom. It would consist of attractions that dealt with mythological and fairytale creatures, unicorns, dragons, etc. The rides would be more thrill type, such as extreme roller coaters. Some in the industry think that Universal's IOA got wind of Disney's earliest plans and might have ripped off the idea of Dueling Dragons.
If you look at the logo for Animal Kingdom, there is a dragon walking along with the other animals. The Beastly Kingdom idea is why it's there. Hopefully, Expedition Everst is the start of something great.

Unfortunately, the requests many posters put forward for an adults only resort will never come to be at WDW. It is the complete contradiction of what Walt and Roy wanted when they originated the idea for DL and WDW. They are both supposed to be a place where children and adults have fun together. It's a fun idea to kick around on a discussion board, but it ain't gonna happen.

**I would like to see more buses in use at peak times.
**More control at the resorts where people like to congregate and use the amenities (pool hoppers!).
**I agree with the poster that wanted another parade at Epcot (loved TON/TOD).
**More shady areas!!! We visit in July and it is hot!

I am so happy that WDW has chosen to finally add frigs and coffeemakers to deluxe and mods. I was about time! I am pretty much happy with WDW and will continue to visit.

It is surprising how many posts are in reference to MYW tix. In my view, it is an improvement. You get to choose what you want and are willing to pay for. This is a great perk for those who would choose a pkg but will never visit a water park or will not return. Why should they have to pay for what they will not use.

And for that poster that wanted a simpler ticket for everything...MYW premium pass is available.

As for the folks who want monorail expansion. It won't happen, it is far too expensive. We couldn't even get a replacement for 2KLUTS for 10 YEARS! The Disney Co. is not going to fork out the hundreds of millions that a monorail expansion will cost.

I agree that a resort with suite-like accomodations would be great. BUT if the other resorts with suites (CSR and deluxes) are any indication, the rates would be more than twice as expensive as a room. I just can't see WDW building an all-suite type of resort and charging less for a suite than the cost of 2 rooms at the same level of resort. WDW has several options for those who have more than 4. Ft. Wilderness Cabins and Campground, all DVC properties, POR rooms with trundle, deluxe resorts, renting 2 value or mod rooms.

The Disney Cruise Line offers an adults-only deck, and several WDW activities are limited to adults. However, I do agree that there will never be an adults-only resort at WDW, but simply because there won't be a sufficient enough demand for one, backed by the ability to charge a sufficiently high enough premium to make up for the reduction in flexibility.

How about cans of Beverley at all the drinks carts at WDW, and in the dispensers at the resort hotels? Its a pain to have to trek over to Epcot to get some!

Andrew
