What does this usually mean?

We have an AP discount for AKL water view (formerly called pool view, which is what it is) next month. It's $317.20 + tax per night for the non-weekend nights, so the discount they offered you is quite similar. And, yes, it's a good rate. We love AKL and it's a huge upgrade from CSR. But does this still fit your budget?

Thank you for your reply. I think right now we we are paying around $600, so it would be around $400 more.

What do you all think of upgrading to Disney's Boardwalk for $155 per night? We are staying 3 nights four days for the Halloween party. As of now, we don't have any other parks booked. More of a resort and Halloween party vacation. Thank you!

Hi all,

I have an upcoming stay at CSR in August. Disney sent me something about a “special offer” if I call up with a code they sent me. It excludes The Cabins at FW and the Bungalows at the Poly. Has anyone ever called? Do you think it’s worth a try? Opinions?

Thank you!

The unique code is real. It includes deluxe resorts. One offer she gave me was Animal Kingdom Lodge water view for $1,071 and change. Opinions? She told me it was a really good deal. Stay is three nights and four days.

Thank you!
So THAT'S what that email was about! Thanks for posting! I wasn't sure if it was legit or not.

I’d do it!!! It’s such a fun resort! Love the main pool! The boardwalk itself is great, especially at night!! Ice cream, games and even watch the fireworks right from the bridge if you’re not going into the parks! Can rent a surrey bike during the day and ride around the whole boardwalk or even go for walks. Great restaurants right there as well! Good luck deciding!!

Do you mean that Boardwalk is $155 more per night than CSR is? It can't possibly be only $155/night, can it? If it is, grab it!

I mean $155 more per night lol.
Gotcha. So it's even more than AKL is, which I kinda suspected.

You're there for the Halloween party. Didn't they offer you GF, Poly, or CR? I mean, that's where I'd want to stay if I were doing the party. Although perhaps they're more like $200 more/night than CSR.

GF would be over $250 a night more, Poly over $300 night more.

Is that the rate for studio? Or bdrm?

Hi all,

So I ended up going with the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a little over $100 more per night. King bed- resort view. They got me! I figured since we are spending a lot of time at the resort it would be worth the upgrade. This will be our second deluxe resort. So far I have stayed at CBR, CSR, POFQ, and OKW. I have to say- I wasn't crazy about OKW. Any advice for Animal Kingdom Lodge?

Thank you all for the great advice as usual!

Reading between the lines of pixie dust, I would think the demand for the deluxe resorts is soft in the near future. So, Disney is trying to get those already booked at moderate and values to upgrade (i.e. spend more money than already committed to) and then Disney will have more availibility at the moderate and values for new bookings. Win/win for Disney and if it is in your budget then a nice upgrade for those who partake of the offer.

Well, you chose my fave WDW resort, so I definitely think you did the right thing!

Resort-view rooms at AKL (formerly called standard view) sometimes have partial savanna views. You could get lucky! Fingers crossed!

The lodge itself is amazing and there's African art everywhere in all the hallways, so just walking up and down the hallways is a total pleasure. Not to mention the fantastic lobby.

There are savanna viewing areas everywhere. Walk around and you'll stumble on one.

Great pool, if you're into pools.

The QS place, the Mara, has lots of choices. People love Boma (open for breakfast and dinner only)--it's a buffet and it's kinda pricey. I've never eaten there, but I've never seen a negative review of it. Jiko's open only for dinner. I've had many terrific meals there.

Over at Kidani--a short walk or a longer jitney ride from AKL--there's Sanaa, also a great restaurant. And more savannas and viewing areas.

Lots of activities every day at AKL. You'll have to see what's happening when you check in. One of the most fun things I've done there is the hidden Mickey search. If you're into that kind of thing.

Give yourself plenty of time to get to MK. It's probably a 20-minute bus ride away, although I have done it in 15--and there's no point in taking a rideshare since you'll end up at the TTC, not MK.

I'd be jealous but I'm going to be there in July.

Have a fantastic wonderful magical happy trip!!

OP, I apologize if this is hijacking the thread too much, but I have a question. I have a 3 night stay scheduled at Coronado Springs at the end of August and I paid for WDW travel insurance at the time of booking with WDW. I am a new AP holder and I booked the AP rate for CS. I'm wondering if I were to receive a special offer/PIN code like you did, whether I would be able keep/transfer my travel insurance or if I would lose it? OP, did you have travel insurance? If you did, were you able to keep it and have it cover your new booking? Just not sure how that works?

I noticed a while back that the AP rate for Swan/Dolphin was very similar to the CS rate I paid, and I called WDW to switch to Swan/Dophin. The CM I spoke with said I would have to forfeit my travel insurance to make the resort switch, and I wasn't willing to leave that $ on the table, so for now, I'm staying put. I wasn't sure if losing the travel insurance was because I was switching to a non Disney owned resort, or if I would lose the travel insurance regardless.

I hope you have a magical trip!

No problem! In the past when I've switched resorts, I was able to keep my travel insurance. I don't have travel insurance this time, because I am doing room only. Maybe because it was a switch to the Swan/Dolphin? Keep a look out on your emails. That's how they reached out to me.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. We have never been to AKL. I'm glad to hear there's a good quick service option.
