What does this mean?

I was on the official Disney site looking at the TRex restaraunt at the Marketplace. My sis was thinking about taking my nephew here but knowing its not on the DDP, does the message above mean its possible we can receive 30% off of our meal if we dine at the T-Rex restaraunt?

No, it means that on the Dining Plan you will save 30% on the menu prices at restaurants that take the DDP vs. if you paid cash.

Of course, that's some kind of average I guess - depending on what you order, but it has nothing to do with restaurants that are not on the DDP or any meals that you have that you don't use the DDP for.

i thought it would have been too good to be true. and it didnt really make sense since food is included on the DDP. at all the other restaraunts, why would you pay OOP?

Some people think that the DDP is too much food,

or they don't want to be bothered making reservations for table service meals,

or they don't want to take time away from the parks to stop for a sit down meal,

or probably lots of different other reasons.

I'm a Foodie... and always will be... and I'm looking forward to the food as much (and maybe more) than the parks. So I enjoy the structure of the DDP. I use my snack credit for breakfast (danish / bagel), my counter service for lunch, and table service credit for dinner. Its all paid for ahead of time, and we'll save some bucks. And its a little bit of an excuse to get dessert with dinner every night, because I would never do that without the DDP.

I'm thankful for the DDP, otherwise I wouldnt be able to enjoy and experience the restaraunts. The only TS we do every trip DDP or not is Ohana. We still do, but have the opportunity to eat at other places as well.

Because the dining plan is a really poor deal for us. Its a good deal for a lot of people - but we generally do much better with our purchase patterns paying out of pocket and using the TiW card.

(I'm also a Foodie, but that's one of the things that makes the DDP a poor deal for us - we do a lot of signature dining and we want to be very flexible in ordering the cheese plate, a bottle of wine, several appetizers, and dessert if that is what looks good. Signature dining and flexibility are bad deals on the plan).
