I have only seen this word on the DIS and have never heard of it before the DIS. Is it in the dictionary? What does it mean?????

There have been lots of threads where folks have been called snarky(including me) and the term is being used on a thread right now about a new TV show but when I have asked on other threads I am never answered and just called other names!!!

I don't have a dictionary handy so could someone PLEASE tell me what it means and tell me if it is a real word or just some type of slang???

Don't know in what context they are using it, but here are some urban dictionary definitions.

Link removed due to icky definition that would probably get me banned. :rotfl:

Oh! I didn't read that far. Mods, I have taken the link out of my post, but I can't edit quotes.

Sorry, that was quite gross.

:earseek: Who decided THAT!

No kidding!? Who comes up with this kind of stuff! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Snarky just means being negative and having an attitude.

The thought of #10!!!!!!yuck!! NO!!! NOT ME!!!!

I was called snarky on another post that had some info about a 7 year old not being able to read. Some of us had never heard of that and once the person said the child was home schooled I said something about that I had not taken lower performing schools or home schooled children into consideration because the school system I work for have all the children reading before that age. Anyway...I was called snarky and when I asked what it meant there wer more nasty comments.

:rotfl2: I am sitting here laughing so hard. I hope my DD doesn't walk in because I am NOT explaining this thread to her! And, no, she does not seem snarky in a #10 way at all!!! :rotfl:

Snarky just means being negative and having an attitude.

From what I can tell, Urban Dictionary just lets people define the slang word and then others vote on it's accuracy. I only use it to see what other people consider the meaning to be.

To me, snarky is being sarcastically nasty, but in a funny sort of way.

OMG, too much information on #10!!!!!

snarky to me means sarcastic/snide with a sense of humor. televisionwithoutpity is the end all be all of snarkiness, especially the recaps.

I could quote comments some posters have made that I think are snarky but, if I did that, I would be snarky, so I'd better not. I don't want to have a snarky reputation.

Snarky does not mean being word repetitive. :p :teeth:
