to a political victory party? I was thinking a little black dress, but don't want to be overly dressed up, if others aren't.

Of course this is what I worry about, while our phones ring off the hook with complaints and election fraud reports. Gotta have priorities :rotfl:

Where is the party taking place? If it's in a hotel ballroom I would wear a black dress, but maybe bring a colored cardigan to 'dress it down' just in case everybody else is casual.

Thanks... It is taking place in a 4* Hotel Ballroom, so I am thinking it will be rather fancy.

I would wear a little black dress to any type of political party unless it was a barbeque. Have fun.

Thanks. The problem I am having is that with my job, I've gone to literally hundreds of political parties and political events in the last 6 months, and they were all business casual to business formal. But this is the first victory party (assuming she wins. LOL) that I've been too.

I think it can't hurt to be over dressed, but would look bad to be under dressed.

I've been to several of these and the attire will probably range widely. I've dressed up when I've been an organizer or an invited attendee. When I've been a campaign worker, I've come very casual, as I would work the polls/phones until the very last closing minute and then directly go over to the party. Some others go for the patriotic flair and come in red, white and blue. Of course, if there is a chance you will be on stage or in on photo-ops, definitely dress up.

Thanks so much for this. I am coming as an offical 'party' guest, and as this will be a Gubernatorial victory party, there is sure to be news cameras, so I think I am going to dress-up.

That is, if I ever get out of this office... It feels as if today is never going to end.

FWIW, I always dress up for election night parties regardless of location. I've been to some at local fire fighter halls and some at fancy hotels. Typically, I am working the office or polls or both during the day so I bring a change of clothes for the evening festivities. I don't think you can be overdressed but I would feel uncomfortable if underdressed. Have fun and good luck to your candidate :)

Thanks everyone. Finally back from a long night out. I went with the little black dress with good clevage :teeth:

It was the right move, as most people were rather dressed up. Got a couple of good publicity shots.

I saw where you live How was it? Can you believe the cook county board thing (I am in dupage) What a primary night!

We have only done Will county things (we used to live there-we are in residence limbo yuck) and that is casual unless you are going to that Lincoln dinner thing (I think that is what its called) (and the only other thing we've been to)

I used to work the polls in the City-that was FUN.

I think the governers race will be interesting.

I really love politics.

It was great. It went a little longer then we expected because the results were trickling in so slowly. A big crowd left before they even came out to speak.

After 'poll watching' much of the day yesterday, I can actually completely believe the Cook County Board fiasco. Of the polling places I saw, about half had broken/jammed machines. It is going to be another long day at the Board of Elections. I am, however, a bit surprised how many votes Claypool is getting. I really thought, as did most political analysts, that it'd be a Stroger slam-dunk.

that it'd be a Stroger slam-dunk.

So did I.

Chicago is very good at getting the votes they need out. I guess the suburbs are the ones that gave (no longer) Claypool the lead.

I was watching Topinka last night and she just makes me giggle. Rooster/Hen :teeth:

I wonder what Rod is going to be able to do without his FIL?

Sorry for the talk-DH is with his boss today and I have no one to hash it out with..I am now done chatting. :teeth:

The clevage (or cleavage), along with the small ankles, should certainly have made the papers this AM. I read the Trib and Herald already, did not see any good cleavage/clevage shots, but, what with the late night vote counting and all in the County, might have to wait till tomorrow's papers. :cool1: :woohoo:

I think that shot may be in the RED EYE ;) under Partying Politicos
