What does it mean to "link" tickets?

I was reading on a thread about "linking" UCT tickets, but I don't know what that is. We might get some UCT tickets. 10 day non expiring to use on our upcoming trip and a couple of future trips. What does "linking" them do? Do we need to "link" them? What are we linking them to? Some people were also talking about "unlinking" them. What is that?

So, are they linked to your hotel reservation then and allow you to make fastpass + reservations? What we're thinking about are non-expiring tickets. Can you link them for each stay while you're using up the tickets? Does it mess up the non-expiring option? Is that why some people mentioned "unlinking" tickets as well as "linking"? Do you need to "unlink" them after your visit or what?
