since I am a gold cc member, my onboard booking window opens on Tuesday for my dec 23 cruise on the magic. Currently, the cruise isn't even half full! I was concerned about securing a few things but now I'm not...does it mean my cruise my be pretty empty? Being over Christmas I thought it would be sold out early but the price might be scaring people away!

I doubt that your cruise will be "pretty empty". Holiday cruises tend to sell pretty well.

Would advise you secure any reservation, excursion, etc. as soon as your window opens. How do you know how full the cruise is so far?

Bon voyage.

I am also curious where you got the information that the cruise isn't even half full yet. I agree the pricing is keeping the cruises from selling out early like they use to, but I agree that the holiday cruises sell pretty well regardless.

I'd suggest that you book any reservation, excursion, etc that's important to you. Especially if you have a specific day/time you want.

The only way you can be sure of finding out how full the ship is, is by doing a bunch of mock bookings and seeing how many rooms are available. Not worth the time and effort. I've read that some TAs have "sources" to find out that info, but I'm not sure how comprehensive even those are.

A Christmas cruise will certainly sell out.

If you're going by a site that I think we're not allowed to name although as usual I have no idea why, it's not saying 50% full, it's saying 50% of cabin TYPES are still available.

I believe it's a TA connected site. Agree - if there is at least one room in each category available the availability will show 100%.

YEESH! Now we can't mention CF either? Since when? It's almost to the point of just not answering questions anymore.

Checking to see if it is filtered.

It's fine to mention the site if it isn't ****d out. As noted though, the percentage given is categories available, not rooms. There could be one room left in each category and that site would show 100% availability. It really doesn't mean anything at all when trying to figure out how full the cruise is.

Hmm, it doesn't seem like it, although there may be TA content that is being blocked by my ad blockers.

The links to book individual sailings (once you drill down to them) don't even seem to contain any referral codes. Well, at least not on the first cruseline/sailing I clicked. (If the cruiselines even give kickbacks for the click itself, and if that's even something worth banning. :) )

Edit: I turned off my ad-blocked and I still only see typical travel banner ads, including ads that go directly to RCCL. Kept refreshing, got an ad that went directly to Princess.

(Note: I am not being argumentative with you personally, I just find the information barriers inherent to travel forums to be particularly arbitrary and irksome. CC, for example, automatically filters out any links to imgur, a common image hosting site. No idea what that's about.)

FINAL EDIT: Maybe it CAN be mentioned here, just caught up. Maybe it's CC where that one is banned too. Sigh. Sorry.

Well, it turns out they're OK to link. Makes it easier. But I get confused between here and CC, also.

Yeah, sorry, I tacked on a final edit/apology to that. Needless to say I have a chip on my shoulder, and having to remember the different rules for different sites also makes me cranky. :)
