what does GTY mean and can DCL bump your room if you're already assigned?

We had that happen a few weeks ago. We saw that we had been upgraded from a gty 11B to a 5C, but now we are back to 11B.

That totally sucks, although I must admit, I would have been a little cynical with such a huge jump, and probably thought it was a glitch. However, still sucks to celebrate the upgrade then have it stripped away.

Has anyone ever been assigned an upgrade on a GTY room, then have it dropped back down by Disney before boarding?

This happened to a family we knew on the Magic.

Sometimes DCL will get late full fare bookings by guests with specific needs (adjoining, connecting, accessible, near other guests, or certain category). DCL can and will move GTY bookings as needed.

I didn't completely believe it, I thought there must have been a mistake somewhere, so I wouldn't let my family celebrate too much. I'm thankful for that now.

We booked a cat 10 on the Dream and were assigned to 5015 right off the bat. Earlier this month, we got our cruise package, and were very surprised to see that we were now assigned to 7676, which is a cat 8c! So, yes, it can happen. As a PP stated, if they do move you, it will be an upgrade . (Out of 6 cruises, this is a first for us.)

I know this is an old thread but maybe you are still around. We are booking 7676 on the dream for next October (2014). Just wondering what you thought of it and if you had some pics?

Yes, this happened to me a couple years ago on the Wonder Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver. I was sailing solo and had booked about 2 months out ( I think). 3 days before sailing I got a call stating that I needed to change my room number on my luggage tags because I was being moved. There was no upgrade, just a room and deck change.
