What does Extra Magic Hours mean in EPCOT?

Hi,

We are hosting our Vow Renewal in June at WDW. The night of our Illuminations Dessert party in EPCOT states that EPCOT/WS is open late for Extra Magic Hours (June 8). Does this mean EPCOT is open 3 hours later than its closing time and WS three hours later than its closing time? OR do they both close at same time? We have not gone to an evening Extra Magic hour at EPCOT and need to know so I can let my guests have the option of staying late after our party.

Thanks for the help!

World Showcase is part of Epcot (did you mean Future World vs World Showcase?). At any rate, the link provided by jimmiej will tell you what's open during evening EMH, as will http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/earlyentry.htm
If your guests are staying onsite, they'll be able to stay and experience the various attractions until midnight. They'll need to get wristbands. If they're not staying onsite, they may be allowed to stay and shop/dine, but they wouldn't be able to ride anything.

Thanks for your help. (I did mean Futureworld vs. World Showcase as opposed to EPCOT)

I guess what was confusing to me is that the WDW site calendar shows Futureworld closes at 7:00 p.m. on June 8 and WS closes at 9:00 p.m. With 2 different closing times I wasn't sure if they closed at different times. You think I would know as we go to WDW about 3 times per year, but with an 8 year old we have never gone to an Extra Magic hours evening at EPCOT. We usually do MK or MGM so I wasn't sure. But the web link answered my question.

All of our guests are staying on-property, so I'll remind them of the ID bracelets. I guess I booked on the right night. The extra hours are just lagniappe.

Thanks again,
Lisa

Future World is open 9 AM to 7 PM every day; World Showcase is open 11 AM to 9 PM every day... except that several extremely popular attractions in Future World always* stay open until at least 9 PM, as late as 10 PM, year-round.
So, while Future World is technically closed at 7 PM, Test Track, Mission: Space, Soarin' and any other FW attractions listed on the evening EMH information will stay open until midnight, along with all of World Showcase.

*Assuming, of course, that a given ride is operational - not always the case with Test Track :)

I will be making my first real WDW visit in June. As I read the schedule, the Magic Kingdom will be open till 11 PM during the week I am there. Does that mean that the evening extra magic hours extend until 2 AM the next morning? :wizard:

That's exactly what it means. :thumbsup2

Welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

to expand on a previous answer, future world technically does NOT close at 7 as disney would like you to believe: soarin', test track, mission:space, spaceship earth and the entire seas pavilion are always open until at least 9 pm (and mouse gear, sunshine seasons, electric umbrella are always open until at least 8 pm).

so for EMH, they continue to operate until midnight plus a couple of other attractions that re-open for EMH

Yes, it bugs me that Disney continues to say FW closes at 7, because many people don't realize that lots of it stays open until 9.. There are more things in FW that stay open than there are that close. I wish they would just say that "FW is open until 9pm, except for the following: Ellen's Energy Adventure, Club Cool, Innoventions, and the Imagination pavilion".

But, then we would lose 43.72% of the questions here on the DIS about Epcot PM EMH.

;)

and if everyone knows how the hours works, FW would would be a lot more busy in the evening, as it is a lot of people think it is closed, and that the people in line paid extra to use fast pass.
