What does everyone think of this Disney Pin Code "Lottery?"

I didn't get this pin code, and we generally stay at value resorts (LOVE Pop), so I'd be happy to get upgraded to a mod, but knowing my luck, we'd end up at one of the All Stars.

That being said, I think it'd be MUCH more appealing if they did a deep discount for each resort level...separate rates for value, mod, deluxe instead of the "chance" to get a mod like how they currently have the pin set up. I might be more apt to splurge and upgrade to a higher category resort if that were the case.

If this PIN had a couple of modifications, it would be awesome.

1.) It should, as previously stated, have dates closer to the PIN being issued. If it were a less than 60 days out PIN then you minimize the chance of something sudden stopping you from going.

2.) Add the chance for DELUXE resorts in the mix. Even if they say only 1 in 10 will get deluxe... it would be like the magic pixie dust we all wish for...

Disney if you are listening, send me a PIN like the one above around the end of the year...

I find the whole thing intriguing. I am not a fan of casinos, but would be tempted. I love Priceline and have always gotten fabulous deals. I wish someone would take the plunge and let us know what they got!

Dawn

I am surprised that no one has used the offer yet either. Seems like a fair amount of people got the offer, but no one is biting. It doesn't work for a lot of people, but I am sure there are a few that it would be fine for.

The deal killer for me is the double beds at the values. Apparently DH and I are bed snobs because we will only sleep in a queen or larger. I am pretty small but I need space...

Beware!Looks like they are sending the Lottery pincode out again...only this time without the second option and omitting the terms and conditions from the email! I just got one and called just to see!

Pretty sleazy if you ask me...makes it look like a great deal until you actually call! Thank goodness I knew what it was when it showed up (thanks Disboard!) and didn't get all excited!

Guess they are not getting the response they wanted with full disclosure lol!

That is just pathetic. I actually think it's a sign of desperation to MAKE that scheme work...... and another sign that it bombed the first time it went out with all the details.........

I still firmly believe they have a direction they want this discount thing to go, and it's just not panning out as they had hoped....... Bottom line, if they want their beds full, they need to get moving with the free dining for fall.

Really? that's awful!

This deal doesn't interest me either. I hate the non-refundable part of it. Sometimes we need a value for a night here or there around our DVC stays, but many times those plans change and I'd hate to not be able to cancel.

Do you get informed of your resort at the point of paying for your reservation? I think planning your dining and schedule is hard enough and not knowing your resort would be very difficult!

I'm guessing they only set up this offer so they can plug these people in at the last minute. They will only upgrade you to the higher resort level if they fail to sell it before you arrive. They are doing it for that flexibility.

IMO it would be near impossible to have a stress free vacation if Disney switched up your resort last minute. We just recently changed from BC to WL and I had to switch about many of our ADR's that were centered around the Epcot Resorts.

I wish someone would post who booked this offer so we can find out more about the details as far as if you find out when booking what hotel you will have or not.

I have seen it mentioned that although you will not recieve a refund but a credit to rebook, which is not quite as bad as when I first read about the offer and thought you lost your money.

I don't think that is as much a factor with values & moderates because everything is bus transportation and getting around isn't as different as switching from Epcot area to MK area deluxes. When we stay value or mod our meal plans are all dependent upon our park plans, except perhaps an ADR at the restaurant at our resort if we're at a mod or an extra DTD meal if we're at POR/FQ. For the most part where we end up staying has little to do with where we eat.

I'd book with this offer as I like all the Disney resorts, BUT I'd be really irritated if I found out that many other families got upgraded and mine didn't. That's the hazard of chat boards and internet sites- we all know what others are getting. Same with PINS- not fair that some get them and some don't, and I don't see the point- just put an offer on the table and let everyone at it until they've filled enough rooms.

Let's face it- someone who books a non-changeable offer won't be constantly calling asking if another PIN is attached to their name, calling with questions about a possible different resort, different discount, different package, switching discounts, etc.- all which require a higher volume of CM's to satisfy all those service calls.

I'd prefer it if there would be ONLY seasonal discounts that are always available to reserve up to a certain percentage of rooms- so we'd be encouraged to book early to get them, we'd know it would be the best offer, didn't have to constantly stress over something better coming our way or missing something coming our way. Yeah...I know this won't ever happen as they want flexibility to offer discounts based on volume of bookings, but I'm just sayin'....it would make life easier for my family- thank goodness we're DVC members and don't have to worry too much about other ways to stay onsite, but I like a good deal and a reason to come back just as much as the next person. :-).---Kathy

The problem of course....... is that they want to ONLY give a discount if that is the ONLY way you'll come. They don't want to leave money on the table by giving discounts to people who will ultimately book at the higher rate in the absence of a discount. Thus...... the PINs. The clearly have my number, as I'm going regardless...... and don't even know what at PIN code email looks like..........

Hi, I'm new to posting, but wanted to pipe in that I think I did take advantage of this offer. Not sure if it's the same offer/pin code you are referring to in this thread. I had the offer to choose a value, mod or deluxe at a set rate, not know which hotel I was getting (within the tier I chose), had to pay in full before knowing the resort and it is nonrefundable (and had to book before July 7). We were planning a trip to Disney in November anyways, planning on staying at WL. For $199.00 a night (with blackout dates of Nov. 19-26) I chose the deluxe tier. Our "mystery" resort - Saratoga Springs Villas (1 bedroom). I was a bit disappointed. We've never stayed there, nor had the desire. We have two young boys, that will be 3 and 4 in November. I was hoping for ANY deluxe near Magic Kingdom. From what I've read SSR is huge and requires a lot of walking and dependent on the bus system to get to the parks - not ideal with preschoolers that tire easily. Last year we stayed at the Poly, so I think we "spoiled" ourselves with the transportation options to MK and find it hard to stay elsewhere.

All in all, I'm trying to get excited about staying somewhere new and feeling like I got a good deal on the room. Luckily, we weren't planning on spending more than one day in the parks (it's only a three night stay). Hoping for warm weather to experience the pool amenities at SSR.

Forgot to mention when the resort was "revealed". After I paid in full on my credit card, the resort we "won" was revealed to me (on the phone). The poor CM - she was trying to make it sound like I scored "big" with a 1 bedroom villa, but I couldn't hide my disappoint in the location of the resort. I really was hoping for Poly or WL!:)

Me again!

I can't help but think that this pin code is a way for Disney to fill resorts that are less desirable. Just my opinion. From reading on this board about SSR, it sounds like maybe it has a higher vacancy rate than some other deluxe resorts.:confused3

I understand the lure of hoping one will get the most desirable option in the "mystery" PIN offer....... but honestly, don't you think Disney is doing this to fill the hardest to fill locations?

This would be yet another reason for me to stay away from this offer! I mean, there's a reason most people don't want to stay in those hard to fill rooms.
